IU Bass Fishing wins FLW College Regional and $50K
Hello fellow fishin.com members,
I just wanted to post a great piece of news from the IU Bass Fishing Club. This weekend 2 IU teams fished the FLW College Regional on Kentucky Lake. The team of Jesse Schultz and Dustin Vaal came home with the win after 3 days of tough fishing. They won $25,000 in cash for the university and a brand new Ranger boat (valued at $25K) wrapped in IU colors for our club!

Also the annual Minnow Bucket tournament (IU vs. Purdue) is this Sunday (November 8th) on Lake Monroe and IU still needs a driver or two. So if you are interested in possibly fishing with the club please contact our vice president Zack Wojtowicz at 317-331-9843. IU gives the drivers a free club tshirt, and also enters them in a big bass pot for cash and a free Carrot Stix rod.
Thanks everyone!!

That's great news Ryan! As an IU alum and avid bass fisherman still living in the area it's good to hear of success like this. Hope you guys take it to the Boilers!!!!!! Wish I could help as a boater, but I will be out of town this coming weekend.

Thanks for the great comments guys. I am really proud of what the club has done the last few years. We appreciate having an opportunity to represent IU and Indiana on a national level.
Re: IU Bass Fishing wins FLW College Regional and $50K
Hey everyone. Just to update the Minnow Bucket. IU easily took the victory with 47.4 pounds, Purdue had 23 lbs. IUs biggest sack was 5 fish @ 17.5 lbs with a couple boats having 3 fish sacks that went 9.5 and 7.5 as well. Every IU boat had at least a keeper or two. Fish were caught mainly on crankbaits anywhere from 2-12 feet of water. Mainly fishing laydowns or flooded trees in creeks and creeks mouths all over the lake. Biggest fish came in 8-12 ft of water cranking over treetops. Hope this helps. Monroe is on fire right now.

Friday when an IU club guy was prefishing for the tournament, He got in a school of hybrids and caught 17 fish in a row, smallest fish @ 4lbs, catching them on a dropshot haha. He said he had so much fun he didnt want to leave.

Re: IU Bass Fishing wins FLW College Regional and $50K
Congragulations on the win IU team! I'm an alumna who is glad to hear of your great success!

Re: IU Bass Fishing wins FLW College Regional and $50K
Well I'm an alumna from a looooong time ago; however, if I had known there was fishing going on at the lake I would have studied that instead of "partyology". Just curious....has anyone fished the quarries from the rocks? What's in there? I was at one behind the school on 37 one time and there were a bunch of little gills or goldfish -- the water that was very blue and not the deeper, clearer one.
