A little snow causes cranius rectumus
Man I sat in traffic for 45 minutes this morning trying to get to work. Usually takes 15-20 minutes total time. I live 5 miles from the shop and it was frustrating to say the least. I am totally amazed at how people act like lemmings and just follow eachother in a trance of going slow and assuming the salted clear roads are slick when in fact they were fine.
You know how eventually the lane your in will start moving? Well when we caught up to the nimrod in the left lane he was going 35mph in a 55mph area. Middle aged fella drinking coffee and smoking just out for a Sunday drive I guess? In front of him was clear with no cars...fools like that should get a ticket for being in public without a guardian!
Well I feel better and I kept it clean....:)
Re: A little snow causes cranius rectumus
Don, I learned a long time ago that there are two very dangerous kinds of people on the roads in Kentucky during the winter (or at least when there is snow or ice on the roads).
The most dangerous ones are those transplants from up North that are used to lots of snow and ice and say "ah this is nothing, I know how to drive in this stuff!" And they go way too fast, until the accident happens.
Then the other kind is the locals that are not used to snow or ice and drive extra slow, even when the roads may be clear. This kind seldom has any accidents themselves but they cause others to have accidents trying to get past them.
I also learned a very long time ago, when I took my first Defensive Driving Course in the Army, to "drive at the safest speed possible for the road and traffic conditions" and sometimes that means taking 45 minutes to get to work because someone is going too slow but it is safer to stay with the flow of traffic.

Re: A little snow causes cranius rectumus
Yep and on Man-O-War...man it was s...l...o...w going.
Re: A little snow causes cranius rectumus
Yeah I had to follow that idea and just go along until we broke free then it was 55-60 mph all the way. I'm not kidding the roads were dry around my work so it was easy driving.
What I'm thinking is if this storm they are guessing hit's us on Thursday....well it may cause me to go in very early or stay home and pull the ATV out for some fun!
Why fight it? I'm gonna take that lemmon and turn it into lemmon aid if we get hit....:)

Yea wait till Thursday it's gonna go from bad to worse then. They are saying now we may get over four inches in spots and the wind is gonna blow that afternoon over 30 miles an hour with wind chills of 10 to 15 below zero, this is nuts. The lows for Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights are forecasted to be below zero in the outlining areas with wind chill factors waaaaaay below zero.
Makes you wanna smack Al Gore right up side da head don't it..........................

Re: A little snow causes cranius rectumus
Amazing the chaos a little snow does around these parts. They'll start packing into Walmart here for the upcoming BLIZZARD (3-4", lol). Schools will be closed for a week, and chaos will ensue. I wish I grew up out here and got to miss as much school as they do here. 2-3ft of snow, we still were on the way to school! Chains on the school bus tires and all! lol! Looks like I'll be entertaining my daughter for awhile until schools gets back.
Be safe out there, lots of bad drivers!

You forgot one, the 4x4 driver that loves the fact he has 4 wheel drive butt does not realize he does not have 4 wheel stop.
Re: A little snow causes cranius rectumus
So guys how did the storm pan out for you? Was it as bad as they had forecast? Did you get the snow and freezing rain? Was it hard to get to work this morning? So fill me in on how you dealt with it cuz I hear it is very cold down there right now. I also see that farmers on Louisanna may lose their crops due to the deep freeze you are in. That **** Arctic is such a pain.
Re: A little snow causes cranius rectumus
Our last storm in Lexington was not much more than 1/4" of snow but cold! The one that should hit tomorrow should give us a few inches on snow and even colder temps!! Why did you leave the door open??:)
