1911 A1 Army Issue??
I didn't want to hijack the thread Why I carry a 45 so here's my question.
I have a 1911 A1 that I inherited from my father. Complete with leather case and rain cover for case and army field manual. My father had carried it since at least 1950.
I'll never sell it, but what is it worth?

Re: 1911 A1 Army Issue??
Its actually not worth anything. In fact its dangerous and has been determined to cause cancer and even genital warts. Because I am a caring person and because Ive been to Tijuana and no longer have a reason to fear the herpes, I will gladly take the pistol off your hand free of charge.
Please let me know a time and place we can meet up.

I purchased a 1911 made in 1918 with the leather holster for $850.00
But I have seen ones similar to mine for 1200 - 1400 on Gun broker. It is a great place to look or Buy/Sell guns ! And Guns America is also good!
I would say 1K also. But the sentimental value and history should make it priceless!

Re: 1911 A1 Army Issue??
Honestly, the value can be way more then a grand depending on year made, condition, etc. If you really want to find out, if youll take some good pics I can post them on some firearms forums Im on and get you a good idea. What ever you do DO NOT EVER refinish it. Keep everything original. Refinishing ANYTHING on it will destroy its value.
