Side imaging sonar
Any one have some tips on SI interpitation usage?
Used my new Hummingbird side image with gps. Have been reading some blogs and web sites on side imaging interpitaion. Wow!!. Found some things with the SI. that were amazing. Saw a school of bait fish about 80 feet off the port side. They appear as a cloud in the water. Moved the cursor over the cloud on the SI. display image and marked it as a waypoint. Switched over to map and trolled over to the waypoint, threw a shinner in there and then guess what happened!! No strike. Oh well, still hade a good day outside and practicing using the features on that hummingbird SI.
With the gps combo unit it is cool to be able to mark a waypoint from either the down view graph or the side image display.

Re: Side imaging sonar
Found that with a SD card in the unit you can record the display from the side image view and the down view. Then it can be played back for review. According to what I understand, the gps information is also in the recording and you can make a waypoint from the recording to mark a structure or feature you want to go back to.

Man I remember that kid in a candy store felling when I first went out with mine. After a year of using it I am still learning about it.
