Float n Fly on small rivers?
Hi Guys,
I am planning my annual Valentine's Day canoe/fishing trip with my fiance. We are going to the Rockcastle river (if the levels don't get too high) to try to catch some smallmouth bass.
Heres my FNF question.
Can I get the flies somewhere in Lexington? Can I rig up the system so that my woman can use it on an ultralight fishing rod?
I think that the movement of the boat and waves will add to the fly enough but I am wondering how easy it will be for her to cast it...
Any tips/suggestions/ideas?
I don't know anything about the FNF just thought it might be a easier system for her to use out of the boat than jigs/inline spinners, etc.
Thanks a million!
Re: Float n Fly on small rivers?
I do a LOT of FNF on the lakes (LC & DH), but can't help you on the rivers. But, from what I read, you already have a KEEPER IN THE BOAT! Have they ever written a song about the FNF WOMEN! :D
Re: Float n Fly on small rivers?
I don't know if it would be easier for her, but it definitely works on small rivers. The first few smallmouth I caught this winter on FnF were from a small creek out of a 5ft hole.
I used the same equipment with a shorter, ultralight rod.
You can get the flies at Backwaters in Lexington.
