Fished Barren this past Sunday, the water was very cold, 38-40 degrees. I had better luck that I expected, I caught 7 fish, one about 3 lb and the rest were between 12-14 inches. It was fun to get out.

The local bass club (not a member but talked to some of them) fished Barren Sunday. Six fish total were weighed. Not sure what won. Guys I talked to didn't get bit.
Said water was clear, and cold. Said the lake was pulled down sixteen inches in 24 hours.
Corps looks to still be pulling it hard. I am wanting to get out and place some crappie stuff, maybe this weekend.

I had a buddy that fished Sunday and caught probably 18 pounds. I fished Monday and my partner and I caught around 50 bass - but only one 3 pounder. Lots of 1-2 pound fish. We probably had 11-12 pounds in our best 5. The water is coming down fast and cooling off again. I found 49-50 degree water Monday morning - it was muddy though from the rain Sunday night. Fish were reaaly active in that warmer water.
I could not find water warmer than just over 40 degrees, but the active fish were in the warmest water, 0 bites in the 38 degree water. All of my fish came on a crankbait, and no it wasn't a red eye shad, from shallow points adjacent to deep water. All fish were caught in the afternoon.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Rangerjohn.....Im not going there anytime soon...just like to hear just "a little" of how anglers boat fish...especially at this time of year. Sounds like the bass at Barren are thinking about getting the FAT on; .....from looking at one of the previous post!!! I like to hear of a true CB bite yearly like this. Hope Barren Lake has a baner year.
