I fished Lock 10 (near Fort Boonesborough) on Sunday. Water was low and clear. Fished below the lock with one missed strike, lost the obligatory amount of tackle :o, and didn't bring any fish home for supper.
I was using minnows on a jig head.
There were some yahoos out there in some speed boats casting wakes all over everybody trying to fish (there were 3-5 other people fishing - nobody that I talked to caught a fish)
I've never had any luck fishing there but I've heard plenty of people say you can burn up sauger and white bass when the time is right. I guess my timing is always wrong.
I would love to figure them out. I have never had any luck with sauger or walleye. I am a beginner fisherman so most everything I catch is by accident.
If anyone knows any tips on fishing sauger on the ol ky river send me a PM and I'll be forever grateful.
There is a time in early spring when the white bass will chase shad up river to the dams. I was able to catch this phenonenon a couple of times. The shad will bunch up at the dam base so thick you can dip them with a bait net. They will littereally jump into your boat. Great ime to catch white bass, sauger and whatever. I have been tring to keep a close eye on the river to see if they have started this run. It will usually only last a few days. So if anybody notices the white bass running (shad running) on the river [U] PLEASE POST!!!!!!!![/U] Thanks.
A buddy of mine fished that same water the other day and blanked as well. This time of year can be tough. Good luck next time...
