Herrington Info
Herrington will be lowered to the elevation of 719 so that a surveying firm can survey Dix Dam. This temporary elevation is 6 ft. below the normal winter pool of 725. The work should be completed in a few weeks and the lake will be allowed to fill back to normal level as according to rain fall. The lake has been dropping about a foot a day since last week. This morning the lake was 719.3. Boat launching maybe impossible at some ramps.

Re: Herrington Info
Thanks for the info. Had no idea it would be so low this spring.
Btw. Any idea when Kennedy Bridge will be open? Meant to ask when I was at the lake but was too busy arguing about the $10 launch fee for new concrete. I guess it go back to $5 when the concrete is paid for? lol

From the way I've seen things work, once the concrete is paid for the $10 fee will still remain. Once they get people used to payin it they convieniently find other uses for that $10. I wouldn't hold my breath counting on it to be lowered back to $5.

Re: Herrington Info
$10 wow. Where can a man put in with the lake this low from LEX around Chimney Rock since the bridge is down?

Re: Herrington Info
Pretty much no where. I drove around the lake today trying to find access since we WERE putting on a tournament this Saturday, only to find that you really couldn't launch anywhere. Pandora has one lane still in that should be dry by tomorrow........

Re: Herrington Info
I might add the lowering of the lake will affect the white bass run. They need running water to spawn so I hope it rains before and/or during the spawn. It seems the whites can't get a break in Herrington. I wish they would stock more hybrids and whites in this lake.

Re: Herrington Info
yeah I am 99 percent sure I will be heading to stoner saturday. It is a shame the weather will be nice all week and push those hogs up to start feeding pretty good. I guess I will wait a couple weeks to try and fish Herrington. I have never had much luck anyway when they pull the bottom out of the lake.

Re: Herrington Info
hey Bone ,the people that control Herrington lake could care less about the white bass or any species . As far as Chimney Rock chargeing $10, for my part of them I hope they like the taste of concrete, blacktop, whatever they use.

Re: Herrington Info
I agree Magiksmallie the fee won't go down after the concrete is paid for. But I can sure irritate them with that question. Also that makes one wonder what the $5 fee for the last umpteen years went to. That sure wasn't for ramp maintanance.
Anyway, back to the original question. Anyone know when Kennedy Bridge will open?

Supposed to be finished in April (next month) but we'll see if that happens or not;). When I was at Chimney Rock yesterday it looked like they were making progress......

Maybe somebody can tell me differently but i heard all they were doing was changing out bolts. Is that true or are they more than that? Paving it or even widening it would be nice.
