Obama makes good on a bet with Canada

OTTAWA - Prime Minister Stephen Harper has cashed in on his bet with Barack Obama over the Olympic men's gold-medal hockey game.
The U.S. president's top representative in Canada, Ambassador David Jacobson, delivered a 2-4 of Molson Canadian to the doorstep of 24 Sussex Drive on Friday morning.
Harper and Obama had each wagered a box of beer on the outcome of the Canada-U.S. men's Olympic final, won by Canada 3-2 in dramatic fashion on Sidney Crosby's overtime goal.
Obama, through Jacobson, added an extra case of Yuengling, the president's American brew of choice had he won the friendly wager.
"To show there's no hard feelings, the president also threw in a case of Yuengling on top of the Molsons," Jacobson told the prime minister, adding he also wanted to "congratulate the Canadian people on the Games."
"They were great, the athletes were great and the spirit and hospitality were great to my people and around the world . . . ."
Harper responded in kind, lauding the American athletes and visitors to the Games - and thanking them for making good on their wager.
"David, you guys always fulfil your promises to us and we appreciate it."
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs wore Team Canada's colours during his daily briefing in Washington a week ago after losing a similar bet to Harper spokesman Dimitri Soudas.
Soudas said the two cases of beer would be donated to the Hockey Hall of Fame in Toronto.

I hope someone has the good sense to empty them before they go on display! Hate to see good beer get wasted.
Re: Obama makes good on a bet with Canada
I figured they would donate the beer to the Canadian Women's hockey team, seeing as they love it so much! And maybe throw in a few cigars to go with it!
Re: Obama makes good on a bet with Canada
When I was in high school and lived in PA, when we didn't have enough money to buy a 6 of Pabst or Miller, we'd buy a 6 of Rolling Rock or Yuengling. And still have money left over for the pretzels.
Having been given a case of Yuengling, I'm surprise the Canadians didn't sever diplomatic ties, remove their ambassador, and demand a case of Maker's Mark Burbon to defray any further possibility of the onset of hostilities.
Re: Obama makes good on a bet with Canada
haha you guys are giving me a chuckle. I never heard of that beer the President loves so much. Maybe our PM will keep the Molsen Canadian and donate the other one. Myself if I was the PM I would drink it or serve it at a backyard bbq. I mean it was a personal bet between the two and the winner should be able to enjoy it. They need to lighten up a little I think.
