Can I charge my battery with this charger?
I got a free charger when I bought a new minn kota tmotor today. Here is a link to the charger

Can I use this to charge a trolling/deepcycle battery? Its a walmart battery (Everstart 24DC 6) and the guy there told me I could only charge it on the 2 amp setting or it would "burn it up". This charger says 5 amps.
None of this stuff makes any sense to me, any help is appreciated. If I could charge this battery faster without ruining it, it would make my day because it takes over 24 hours for it to charge on my old charger at the 2amp setting.
Re: Can I charge my battery with this charger?
According to the specs on the Minn Kota charger it is a charger for bulk (to recharge the battery) and maintenance (to keep battery at full charge). I charge my trolling batterys with a onboard charger @ 5 amps per battery then when fully charged the charger maintains the charge until I unplug it. Read your directions carefully and they should explain the best way to use the charger. Only using 2 amps would never get a trolling battery back to full charge for about 2 days.
Re: Can I charge my battery with this charger?
The directions are very basic, just plug it in and hook it up, and wear goggles :)
Charging on my old charger on 2 amps gets my battery charged good, it just takes forever. At least I think its charged good anyway.
Two guys in two walmart automotive sections told me anything above the 2 amp charge would mess up that particular battery. They said to charge faster I had to have the "trolling, STARTING, deep cycle"

You will be fine charging with 5 amps.
