ohio river condition
does any of you guys, that fish the ohio river. know what condition it will be in by saturday. like will it be muddy and swift, or down and clear.do any of you think it would be a good time to try for a big blue cat. I'm thinking of trying it, and it's a 3 hour drive for me. and don't want to drag my boat that far, if it's up to much to fish. thanks:)

Re: ohio river condition
It would be easier to answer if you posted what area you were planning on fishing.I fished below Greenup Sunday evening, river was muddy, flow was roaring and about 20' above normal pool.River will be down to about 10' above normal by this Saturday but don't know the color or flow but expect it will be somewhat muddy.

thanks jake, thats all I need to know. if it's 10 ft above normal pool, it's a little to swift for me. I'll try it a little later. do you think the sauger will still be hitting when the river runs down?:)

Re: ohio river condition
Sauger bite was great before the river got so high that you would have to fish back in the brush.only caught one Sunday night but would hope it will be back on when the river goes back down.Plan to try Sunday night if the weather is good.

Re: ohio river condition
Kyjake do you ever bass fish the river there in greenup? I have fished both the ohio and the little sandy a few times with nothing major to talk about if you know what I mean. I could use alittle help there if you could.

The ohio is still roaring. Wouldn't fish it for at least another week barring any rain.

Haven't bass fish the area below Greenup for years but there is bass there, see one caught from the bank now and then, mostly smallmouth but the fellows fishing from boats and targeting bass have some luck.I fish mostly for sauger and walleye.Plan on going tomorrow afternoon,if I make it will give a report on water conditions.

keep fishing the little sandy, there is some good fishing in there for bass! especially the next few months.
