Lake Cumberland Results anybody
Did anybody get to bass fish Lake Cumberland this weekend..? Just wanted to hear of some hot reports...if any? I know the smallies are on...they have to be; but was wondering if anybody catching largemouths..they should be just about ready..water temp is looking better??
Re: Lake Cumberland Results anybody
We fished between Camp Earl Wallace and White Oak Saturday and Sunday. Saturday was ridiculous. With a front coming through early that looked like the end of the world, we both caught all 3 bass species plus a nice walleye. Caught fish on almost everything we threw at them, but the bigger fish all came on spinnerbaits. Had a 6+ largemouth come unbuttoned at the boat and ten minutes later had a 4+ smallie break me off in the trolling motor. Wound up with 5 smallies from 2 1/2 to 4 pounds, one walleye about 18" and I don't know how many largemouth and spots - probably 15 or so. All smallies released, but the walleye and a few small spots somehow found their way into the livewells.
Sunday being post-frontal was much slower. 5 fish total - 1 nice smallie and some juvenile largemouth and spots, all on jerkbaits.

I'm going down to Cumberland again this Fri/Sat and was wondering other places to try and what colors/types of bait to throw. Was thinking Lily Creek and Low Gap areas. I tried Fishing Creek last Sat with the front coming through and did ok on blue/black jigs, but no large ones. Nothing on jerkbaits, spinners, or cranks. Water was very muddy up there, with about 2 ft of clarity, and was 58-61F. Thanks guys!

I have always had good luck throwing ghost brown or ghost green crawdad wiggle warts. Ghost brown being my favorite. I would also try cumberland craw jigs with a crawfish colored paca chunk for the trailor. A friend of mine uses sweet beaver softplastic in black blue flake. Good luck let us know how you did.

Fished Cumberland Fri/Sat and it was slow. Cold front seemed to have the fish scattered. Water was about 58F at the creek mouth and about 64F in the creek heads, with main lake at around 53F. Water clarity was about 3-4ft. We caught a few LM on Fri (and a 3 ft gar...sheesh), and Sat with a few more LM, a 2.5lb SM and a huge striper that broke my line.
Also, to top off a hard weekend of fishing, a lady hits my boat while it's in the parking lot and put a 1'' hole in the top back corner where it's painted (but thankfully still usable). Anyone know a good alum. hull boat repair place in the northern KY area I can get a quote from? It came from Hern Marine but I hate to drive an hour to Fairfield.

Do not take this damage lightly.
, if this hole is in the transom area of you're boat it could be considered "totaled" by you're ins. company.
