Lake Monroe
We are crappie/everything else fishing April 22-25. Never been there before. HELP!!! Plan on putting in at cutright ramp and fishing the fingers up north of there.
Any and all recommendations would be appreciated. I will post a report of the trip when we return. Hopefully a positive one.

Re: Lake Monroe
Should be good crappie fishing up there right now. I have had good luck in past years cruising the shallow water and casting Road Runners. Some days they are close to wood and others they seem to be spread out. You will also pick up a few 'gills, lm bass, white bass, and yellow bass. Fish the boat docks near the Cutright ramp as well. Lead head jig/grubs, in-line spinners, small cranks, and of course, minnows will all produce. Catfishing should be picking up as well. I use crawlers, livers, and cut bait (bluegills and shad) in the area of the channel on 5'-10' deep flats.
My favorite area is the back 1/3 of the Pine Grove arm, but the whole idle zone should produce.

Re: Lake Monroe
Thanks Joe,
Great info. Have you ever fished for walleye. My son's determined to catch some.

Re: Lake Monroe
The gills and bass should be spawning soon...so don't be afraid to check the fastside (clearer water) for spawners. The lake is high and i have seen guys fishing flooded buckbrush in Allens Creek, Boy Scout Bay, and various places on the main lake.

Re: Lake Monroe
Thanks, we are going to start up north and move as the fishing determines, I'll mark those places on my map.

I have not targeted walleye at Monroe, but have caught a few while fishing for other species.

Re: Lake Monroe
Guys, we're off tomorrow. Thanks for your tips. My plan is to fish deep early and late and shallow when the suns hot. Might try some night fishing, bought a couple of lights, hope they're legal. I'll let you know what we do.

Re: Lake Monroe
I can't help you out much, as I don't know the lake. I have a couple buddies that fish there a lot, and I know they have been catching some HUGE white crappie in about 10' of water. The blacks are up on the bank, but the big whites spawn deeper and 2 lb. fish are being caught.
