Seattle Slew battles head bobbing on the lead setting all the fractions in 45 4/5 and 1:10 3/5 and then draws off winning under wraps by 2 lengths is my best Derby horse of all time.
Secretariat sets the track and Derby winning time record winning by 2 lengths over SHAM and Sham was daylight over the field.
Sham would have won the Derby by a dozen if not for Secretariat. Sham also would have had the Derby winning time record if not for Secretariat.
For me it was Big Red. Secretariat was not just an awesome runner but a absolute ham as well. He was very proud of himself. The media just too say he would come to the fence and actually Pose for photo's. He was quite a show off. He was beautiful to, one special animal for sure.
The Slew was a TOUGH horse!!
Secretariat. Not only set the track record in the Derby, but ran each quarter faster than the one before. Went on to set track records in all three Triple Crown races (didn't get credit for the Preakness due to clock malfunction). Seattle Slew, only undefeated Triple Crown winner second. But all I can really say is who I think was the best of the modern era. I mean, can you say who was better, Citation or War Admiral? I know I can't.
