Many of the ramps are closed, due to high water and their elevation, but took a pic this morning of several boats on the lake fishing in a bay.
Port Road big sandy is about the only one usable(30 space parking lot) the dock is underwater and is a hazard if you dont know its there, one either needs a hanbys or assistance launching.
I took the pic in or off coast guard road in sight of their station,so what you heard wasnt true. What they do not want is some joker running up on plane in an area that has homes with water in or near them causing damage just because their is no wake zone sign.If he got escorted off was for a good reason.
Lake is up .has debris, yes be carefull.

I was personally called by the coast guard because I am a tournament director and had a scheduled tournament this weekend. The guy I mentioned was fishing in a creek and 2 coast guard boats approached him and told him to leave the lake that it was closed and they are telling everyone to leave. This is an older gentleman and is in no way a "joker" in fact he said he was so far up the creek he didn't know how they found him.

Sorry no pun intended, their is an ABA T div 41,scheduled for port road on sat,had wondered if it would be cancelled.
As for closing the lake,it is under emergency control id say at a guess since much of the state is.
There was no sign of that happening next to their facility, pic shows two boats and second one is about a cast length away ,its behind that tree line.
Another I took showed their tug ,at their dock,I do however understand why they would due to the water around many homes and possible damage.
As for the remark about the wake ive seen several blast into coves, again possibly a reason to close the lake.
Wonder if I can draw unemployment....lol

Yes its official
The Tennessee River has been closed to recreational boaters from Paducah, Ky., to the Alabama border because of record high water levels and excessive river drift.
The U.S. Coast Guard said that no recreational vessels are allowed from the mouth of the Tennessee to Pickwick Landing, Tenn., a stretch of 206 miles.
That pic sure didnt show that happening was taken about 30 min prior to my post,my apologies.
And Dave your book rights should keep you going-Out on a Ledge
I just got the same call The USA Bassin 2nd Chance Tournament is Cancelled. Was told both lakes will be closed and anyone caught on them would be fined. If you have prepaid for this Tournament I will send out refund checks on Friday. Thanks for your time and lets hope the water goes down soon. Thanks John Newton
I checked that cg website prior to me replying to the first post its a correction.

Dave - You would think that you could write it off as a loss at least?!..... You have all the proof you need!! lol.... sad thing is the fish are biting awesome too, with the high water the top water bite was really getting strong!!! But they have it closed till Monday at midnight, bummer
This is legit. It was announced today at noon that after today violation of this closure will result in a $3000 fine and they WILL be looking for violators, checking open ramps etc. Closure will be through Monday at least.
