Bluegrass 5/4
Fished for a few hours. Caught 14 with one over 18" one over 20" that went 5-1. The water is way up and very muddy. Both keepers were on top water pretty early in the day fishing over the flooded grass. The gar in the H made it almost impossible to fish. Every cast with a trap or crank bait caught one. They were tearing up the fry. Killed 19 of them. I need to take up bow fishing! The culvert running into loon is loaded with carp right now. I wish someone would put a dent into the carp and gar population.

Re: Bluegrass 5/4
u are doing God's work lol. i hate the gar and carp. I went wed afternoon, looked like the water dropped about 3 inches. caught some nice bass with one over 18 inches, all on a jig. Saturday im going to lake malone. since ky lake is closed, the bad part is a big cold front. and lake malone is very clear, but there is big bass there, i had one last year that went 6 lb 14oz.

Re: Bluegrass 5/4
I dunno where we are going now. I'm thinking about some of the smaller pits a little north. Maybe Glendale or bass. Or just go to newton and get some white bass and fat 4 to 5 pounders.

Re: Bluegrass 5/4
Justin, are the carp in bluegrass or loon. Might have to take a trip over there and shoot some. Thanks

Re: Bluegrass 5/4
Bluegrass. The carp are all 25+ pounds. Gar all 4+ plus. I rigged a steel leader on a old pole last night. I'm ready for them suckers now! I'm going to go slay some more tomorrow I think. Dunno how to get the carp though. Someone pm'd me about a carp power bait? Guess I could try that on some river poles.

Carp power bait? Sounds good...but I usually catch them on red worms...you want the bait right on the bottom though. no bottom contact = no carp...but i'm a noob at it, so good luck with my advice!

Re: Bluegrass 5/4
I'll guess he was catching Warmouth which some people call a Rock Bass. It's a member of the sunfish family and a very agressive one at that. Big mouths and will strike a crank bait at times.
