I am a bass fisherman currently living in Florida and plan to move to Tennessee this year. I was thinking of relocating in east Tennessee maybe around Cleveland. What area has the most lakes to fish for largemouth bass?
I was thinking of the east Tennesee area. I was looking for an area with low humidity but great bass fishing. Any suggestions appreciated.

Im in west tn,I bought my allison boat from a guy in Cleveland.
It has several rivers and quite a few lakes fairly close,even guntersville isnt a far drive.
From ky lake its about 4 1/2 hrs to those around nashville about 2 1/2,those near knoxville under an hr for any of those.Any direction one goes theres a lake or river.
Tn has no state income tax,if a vehicle is already in your name you can just transfer it to tn registration,only if a new to you purchase is there ever a tax.
We do have a higher sales tax,but consdering the lack of all the other no problemo.
Tn drivers lic turn in your old and take an eye exam.
It is a bit different they dont know what a pizza bread sandwich is-called a sub pepperoini,nor is there any hot dog sauce(chili sauce),here,and strange people whom you do not know will wave at you.

Hey, Lilmule, I live in Northeast Tennessee and know a couple of things about that part of the state. We are mountain people but we are not idiots, inbreds, nor Hillbillies. There is chili sauce AND hotdog sauce in EVERY grocery store around here and at Walmart. With so many Italian restaurants in the area, how can we not know what a Sub pepperoni sandwich is? We have some of the best Mexican and Italian restaurants in the nation. btw, sales tax varies from city to city; it is not the same in every city.

I live in Northeast Tennessee and know where Cleveland is. The information Lilmule gave is less than accurate. I don't think that a one-time trip to Cleveland could have provided him with all the fishing information he gave you without giving the names of the lakes and rivers around the Cleveland area. Here are some lakes and rivers I personally know about:
Chickamauga Lake at Soddy Daisy, TN is the closest to Cleveland and the Tennessee River runs through it.
Watts Bar Lake at Spring City, TN
Tellico Lake at Loudon, TN
Ocoee Lake at Parkersville, TN
Hiwassee River is also near Cleveland
Buy a Rand McNally Road Atlas and it will show all the lakes, rivers, parks and campgrounds.

There was no pun intended,was born and raised in w.va so am a hillbilly.
And im near Paris Landing Tn and they do not know what a pizza bread sandwich is(even you call it a sub peperonni sandwich),and if one asks for hot dog sauce they ask chili sauce,like at the drive in.Know can buy a can of it at krogers,but try ordering one eating out,hot dog sauce doesnt come with beans,where I came from.
Stewarts hot dogs and Frostop ,Huntington w.va,is the comparison.
If you noticed it was a friendly observation I moved here because I liked it.
That does not make me ignorant,I was trying to be helpfull,the man asked what was available all kinds of lakes and rivers to fish,and the area is nice to live in tax wise and or retirement wise.
Most people are friendly.

I live on the Tn/Ky line just off I75. I have fished all over eastern Tn and if I could move I would move somewhere near Dandridge Tn. Lake Douglas is right at your door and, my favorite lake, Cheerokee Lake is pretty close. They both have good quality largemouth and striper. Cherokee has better striper, in my opinion, and good smallmouth. Dandridge is a smaller town but close to Knoxville, I know you will want to see what real college football is all about, and Pigeon Forge/Gatlingurg is good family activity area and they are right at the Smokey Mountians. Just my 2 cents.

I live here in cleveland tennessee and have my entire life. It's a great place to live and is close to some of the best fishing around.

Nickajack Lake 30 minutes
Guntersville lake 1hr 15 minutes
Parksville/Ocoee lake 15 minutes
Hiwassee river 15 minutes
Watts Bar lake 35 minutes
Tellico/Ft Loudon Lakes 1 hr
Lake Lanier (Ga) 2 hrs
Douglas Lake 1hr 30 minutes
Cherokee Lake 2 hrs
Thanks guys for your input. At least now I have a few places to start with.l plan on driving up in a couple of weeks and checking some of the locations yall mentioned and check housing prices etc. Thanks again.
If you need to get some prices on homes I will recomend some friends of mine, they helped and we saved alot of money. They are here in cleveland at Crye Lyke Realtors and their names are Larry and Judy Allen. If you call them ask for judy since larry is normally the one who stays on the go:)
