Idiots on Patoka
What is it about Patoka that makes people so stupid. Today a friend and I were fishing just outside the Fishermans Campground bay and were about a good cast off the band when these three grayhairs(Hey I'm 69)are coming at us in an I/O. Do they take a wide berth and go around us? No the idiots don't even slow down and go right between us and the bank. Some people are just doomed to stay ignorant. And some have asked me why I don't fish that lake on weekends.

Re: Idiots on Patoka
Raporter I totally understand why you won't get out there on the weekends - OMG it seems like it gets worse every year. There is very little common sense used - much less common courtesy! For me fishing on the weekends are my only option so this year I've pledged to be courteous to all but the most hazardous boaters out there.
Anybody know where a fellow could get a "boat to boat" close-in weapons system for those times when hazardous boaters get too CLOSE!

Re: Idiots on Patoka
keep a handful of 1-4 ounce sinkers laying on the deck next to you. When they start buzzin your boat, start chuckin some lead. Learned that trick from a stiper guide at cumberland.

Re: Idiots on Patoka
A flare gun might work good in that situation.
I sure am glad that the lakes I fish most are idle speed only. No wakes from other speeding boats and no jet skies or water skiers around. Love it for the fisherman.

Re: Idiots on Patoka
I keep a pack of firecrackers handy for just that occasion... light and throw em high... just the sound going off over their head is usually enough to scare em out of trying it again...

Re: Idiots on Patoka
It is everywhere and on every lake that you can run a boat on. I've had them cruise by me on plane between me and the bank I was fishing at Kentucky, Barkley and Patoka. Everytime my buddy and I could see the bottom where they were running. The best was on Tablerock lake one morning when a guy tried to pull a tube between us and the bank. It didn't work and he shut the boat down. The tube and two kids in it floated right up to my boat.
On a side note, no matter how stupid something I do is, I would love someone to throw a sinker off the side of my boat once.

Re: Idiots on Patoka
Nothing like a spud gun for scaring off idiots. Just fire one across the bow. I have used it for jet ski idiots with great success.
