Re: Obama not at Arlington
George Bush, Sr. never did Arlington while President. He attended services in smaller US Military Cemetaries around the nation. Similar to what Obama did by going to a cemetery in Illinois. So is Bush Sr pathetic too? I'm sure if you search around you'll find other US presidents who did not go to Arlington every year either.

I think the fact that Bush was a Naval Officer gives him a pass from critics on his love of America. I mean what else can a man do but give years of his life to the service?
Obama on the other hand has had associations with Terrorists, Muslim teachings, controversy surrounding his birth certificate and on and on so it does look worse. His name, his statements and some of his actions make him a target and I could care less if it's fair. His past is up for scrutiny and I still don't believe we know all there is to know about this guy.
Re: Obama not at Arlington
I think he missed one ceremony only while President. He also was a fighter pilot in WWII, and his service and support of the military was second to none. Obama has alot to prove in this arena and yesterday he proved alot. I know several active duty military people,,, and let's just say he's not loved by all that are presently serving, lol.
Re: Obama not at Arlington
Reagan did not go at times too. Is he pathetic too? I think too much is being made of this and its all a political non-issue. I have no doubt that some in uniform do not like him. Same could be said for any president.

Re: Obama not at Arlington
If my research is correct Reagan missed two in 8 years and there was real good reason for both misses, that did not include vacationing in Chicago.

I'm sure you know I can't stand him as the face of our country. Absolutly can't stand the man. I can't hide the fact that I'm for anything that gets the people who voted for him or people on the fence to "change" their minds about him before the next election.
I don't think he is good for this country. I'm just not a spend your way out of debt kind of guy...no matter who is doing it. If he would stand up and take responsibility once in awhile for what he has done then I would say hmmm maybe their is something to him.
Your right a political non-issue but a public eye issue indeed and thats what he is concerned about the most.
Re: Obama not at Arlington
As Commander and Chief of this great Nation of ours you MUST support and HONOR the military at ALL times and at ALL costs, that's the bottom line and it should NEVER waiver.
Re: Obama not at Arlington
He wasn't in france also, missed belgium, and a few others, he also missed the cemetary where two of my uncles are buried, also my step father, and a very good friend who died in viet nam, why didn't he go to places in the pacific? As a vet it didn't matter to me where he went, but he did attend a ceremony in Illinois, where a heck of a lot of vets are buried. So he wasn't a vet, how many of you are? That holiday also includes civil war veterans, so he wasnt at those either. Do any of you know how many cemetarys vets are buried in?

Not an expert but yes I know where a hell of alot of them are. My father was a WWII veteran, so was my Uncle. Have a first cousin that served in Vietnam, another cousin retired from the Marine corp. Have another first cousin in his 26th year in the Air Force. Another second cousin that put in 8 years in the Corp. Some others that go back further to but I'll stop now. No I'm not a veteran myself.
Now that you know my family military pedigree to a point, what the heck is your point??
Oh and if ''W'' wouldn't have went I would have frowned on that to verbally. BTW when Reagan missed one it was because he had been shot and was recovering. When George senior missed one he was at Normandy attending one there, I think that is better than vacationing in the arm pit of the United States.

Re: Obama not at Arlington
Since you are a history buff,do you know who is buried in oaklawn? About 3000 or more confederate prisoners of war, victims of the worlds FIRST extermination camp. Also vets from ww11, korea, viet nam, not sure of the gulf. Also some union soldiers who mutined against being held prisoner of war by the union, after the first prisoner of war exchange in the civil war.Be thanfull you didn't to serve, niether did I but I did.And I had the honor of living on an army base for a little while after ww11.
