Re: dale hollow last night
waterdog, Isn't it illegal to not have your lights on? I'm not really trying to give you a hard time but if you're not lit up and someone burns gas to fish a spot they think nobody's on, then all the sudden another boat lights up out of nowhere, who's rude? They probably got miffed also.
As for the fishing, it seems like the smallmouth have been more on chunk rock points and shallow... at least that was the case last weekend. I also had to get in the "shade" with the full moon last weekend.

yes, your right. your suppose to have lights on. for safety reasons I would think. and when your 6 feet from the bank, trolling as close to the bank as you can. your not putting no other boaters in danger. durning the spring I like to fish for walleye, and fish close to bank with my lights out. and their are thousands of other fishermen that do the same as I do. I fish a lot of lakes, and when the top water walleye bite is good. most every one cuts their lights off. on laurel, cumberland, cherokee as you go down the lake, the walleye fishermen will turn their lights on, when I see them I go on. when they see I'm going on they cut their lights out once again. when i'm fishing for smallmouth, I fish with my boat lit up. I think if you are going to stop close to another boat, on a spot they are fishing. at least stop three or four casting distances away from their boat. I don't mind fishing behind another boat. but don't stop within 50 feet of someone fishing. it's just being rude to do so.
Re: dale hollow last night
I know this past weekend that you had to be on the main lake stuff to get bit on topwater. Fished Sunday evening and started getting bit about 30 min. after sunset. Bite lasted maybe 30 minutes, mostly walleye. Monday morning, it was cloudy, and the topwater bite lasted until about 10 a.m., which was when the sun came out. The smallies were flat out killing my topwater bait! Biggest was 3.5 lbs, had a largemouth tail dance and come unbuttoned that probably would have gone 4 lbs.; all in all it was the most intense morning I've had on Dale! Basically would catch one on a point, then motor to the next and catch another. The wildest bites were at the boat, when I was about to lift the bait up and cast again!

Waterdog there is really no excuse for anyone pulling in on the same bank of another fisherman unless you got some major distance between them. If you want to do that you should take the back position and follow them down the bank instead of jumping in front, that just my opion. I thought TN had a law that you had to have your lights on at all times while on the water is that right or not? Or maybe you are in KY waters.
