Cumberland umbrella rig help
Hey, We just got a couple smaller cumberland umbrella rigs for hybrids, the 5 bait ones with 1/4oz jigs w/ spinners, I was wondering how you troll these, we usually only have to fish 15-20ft deep, we have downrigger, would it work okay on them, and how far would the rig drop below that ball?
Thanks In advance,
Nate
Re: Cumberland umbrella rig help
depends on the speed sometimes. I'd start with 10 ft, with an 8lb ball.
Re: Cumberland umbrella rig help
We usually troll around 4mph.
Re: Cumberland umbrella rig help
Don't need a ball just let out the line and it will sink great on its own. BRAID is a must mono will stretch and eventually brake under the strain.
Re: Cumberland umbrella rig help
Thats a good summer speed, they should run about 3 ft deeper than the ball. The braid is the way to go, 20/6 stealth would be a good bet.
