barren river lake state park ramp
I am asking for everyone to help check in on Barren State Ramp. The ramp has been closed since the floods. This ramp is not any more dangerous then the others that the core has opened. Barren River Lake is a great lake to fish and recreation on. The continues closure of this ramp is nonsense. The water level has dropped nearly 7 to 8 ft in the past few weeks. I don't know what the lake crested out but as of today it is 17.2 ft above summer pool.
I was told second hand information part of the reason the ramp was still closed was the fact that the lower parking lot for the marine was still under water. So they have kept the ramp closed to keep all boats recreation or fishing from using it. This will provide parking for the marinas customers that pay to keep their boat at the marina. We pay taxes for the ramp and have been using it for years.
In pasted years I have never seen the ramp closed for this period of time and in my opionin it should now be opened and should have a couple weeks ago. If you agree you can contact Sam Devine or "]Stefanie Gaither at the parks department in Frankfort KY the number is 502-564-8110 with the help of all anglers we can get the ramp open again.
I understand if there was a safety issue but I have went and looked at the ramp in my mind there is no reason for it to still be closed.
Thanks this is just my own thoughts and I don't work or have any dealings with any department or direct impact on this but just tell me your thoughts.

Re: barren river lake state park ramp
Yeah, think about every time you pay a launch fee... that money is supposed to go to upkeep of teh ramp... so taht you can not use it because some marina guy wants his rich assholes happy...
Re: barren river lake state park ramp
The state park ramp charges no fees. We launched there in 87 and in the 90s when it flooded and it was higher than this. But there was also a different Marina owner.
Re: barren river lake state park ramp
Im with you 100% !! It does look ok and needs to be open. We need to start making some noise about it.
Re: barren river lake state park ramp
The marina is only leased the ramp is under the care of the park manager there at the state park. The man that leases the marina is one of the people telling them to keep it closed do to the limited parking make some noise contact people above or Lisa Davis at the state park 270-646-2151.
We should have full use of this area and no reason it is closed.
Re: barren river lake state park ramp
if you want this fixed, (i do as well) then someone needs to contact the local news paper with the info. this is what will get things moving. pics need to be taken and someone who has been told the reason it is not open needs to be willing to make the quote. but, i have heard the same reason to it not being open is due to the houseboat owners. i pay taxes and agree 100 percent with all the above post. however, keep in mind that they can make up any type of reason as to why they dont want it open. if you ask now, they will say it is because a telephone wire is still under water (no joke). i expect they will keep doing this until the lower parking lot is out of water. its sad to see how much talking money can do. i wish there was just one person at the coe that had a pair of gonads. they still have beaver creek boat ramp closed and there isnt anything down there. i just wish i knew how the hiring of those in charge operates at a federal level like this. does anyone know? maybe we can all just send letters every day that say (got gonads?) lol:mad:
