Is anyone catching any panfish?
I went bluegill fishing yesterday and caught two redear, one nice bluegill and two small channel cats. Saw a few small bluegill on their nests but weren't big enough to fool with. I guess the bigger gills/ears are moving to 10-15 foot of water because of the heat.
Re: Is anyone catching any panfish?
Caught about 20 decent redear on gravel bottoms in around 12' of water at Celina, Friday night fishing with helgramites my buddy got out of a creek. Haven't really got into any good bluegill for a couple weeks, just like you said, only fish I'm seeing on the beds are on the small side.
Re: Is anyone catching any panfish?
I've only fished patoka. Can't seem to catch anything but small ones both crappie & gills. Going tomorrow afternoon. Maybe it will be better. The rains have kept the water pretty dirty.
Re: Is anyone catching any panfish?
I caught about 30 yesterday morning. found them just off the beds in slightly deeper water. Over half of them around 8.5 - 9 inches. Took awhile to locate them, but once I did they killed 1/100 oz. jigs I make tipped w/ wax worms. Females were full of eggs about to burst so I expect to find them on beds this week.

I need to hit Celina soon, I've caught some nice bluegill out of there but hear there's big ole redear in there. It's a hard lake to fish because of the depth and water clarity. I used to be able to find the big redear in Indian but boy that lake has changed in the last few years.

They are both being taken over by weeds right now. Indian can be good at times as well, I think over the last couple years they have both declined a little. The redear we caught were good 9" fish, but no monsters, I have not pulled any pigs out of either lake this year.
