Yes, New Orleans, if you didn't have a car you weren't allowed to leave the city. You had to go to the Super Dome. Even if you were willing to walk, the national guard would not let people evacuate by walking on side of the road.

Really? I'd like to see some evidence of that. There's none in those links, and frankly I don't believe it's true, mainly because it's a fact that a lot of people DID evacuate out of New Orleans on foot. But remember, 80% of New Orleans was underwater, over 20 feet high in some places. By the time the floodwaters peaked, no walking routes existed, including "the side of the road." The roads were FLOODED, THAT's what prevented some people from walking out. Now as far the gun confiscation, I don't blame you for having a problem with that. But I'd like to point out that some of those people in those wealthy neighborhoods, who had the ways and means to evacuate early but refused to do so, ended up having to be rescued by chopper, needlessly risking the lives of their rescuers, and delaying the rescue of other people who couldn't have evacuated if they tried.
There's plenty to criticize in the Bush administration's response to Katrina, and the Obama administration's response to the gulf oil blowout. But I really think saying they were [I]deliberately[/I] botched is just over the top.

Yeah this makes perfectly good sense since Obama opened up drilling efforts and said it was now safer than ever to drill.
Also about the "gun confiscation" What happens, you walk down to the beach, pier....... to see the devastation and they have people who search you for weapons?

Not just the wealthy had an opportunity to leave before the Katrina storm hit. Remember Mayor "chocolate city" refused to give the order to evacuate like other cities did until it was too late. He blew it and wasted alot of the cities resources because of it. That wasn't anyone's fault but New Orleans sorry excuse for a leader.
Can anyone explain this adminstrations slow and negligent response to the oil spill? Was is self serving? Was he playing too much golf at the time?Whats the stopping of oil rigs gonna do to us? Jobs lost? Gas prices gonna go up? Where is the money being lost that goes to the feds from all that oil gonna be made up from? I bet you Obamy's special interest pay check that we the tax payers foot that bill. Doesn't that money pay for the roads and upkeep of federal highways?
Kinda leans toward making a case for his stupid cap and trade bill to me. The pattern of this admin is very clear....lie, cheat and decieve.

I never said it didn't happen just questioned the attempt to try and tie the "they're gonna take your guns" to the oill spill disaster because that's what happened during Katrina.

Today, even though President Obama is against off shore drilling for our country, he signed an executive order to loan 2 Billion of our taxpayers dollars to a Brazilian Oil Exploration Company (which is the 8th largest company in the entire world) to drill for oil off the coast of Brazil ! The oil that comes from this operation is for the sole purpose and use of China and NOT THE USA ! Now here's the real clincher...the Chinese government is under contract to purchase all the oil that this oil field will produce, which is hundreds of millions of barrels of oil".
