Re: Pits east of Elberfeld
Fished a few of those pits a couple of years ago - one on the right of the really rutted up road and the long one down hill form the road on the left . The long one has tons of 8" gill - havent heard of them being closed . The only way I could get my truck in there was when it was really dry and dusty - had to be careful even then ! There are more pits on out that some guys I work with fish and say they have good populations of gill . Be nice if the state bought the property instead of a developer .
Re: Pits east of Elberfeld
I spent a lot of time on some of the pits farther east the past couple years and had really good days and some not so good when it comes to bass. There is one inside there that I've fished one time from the bank but want to get my boat back there and can't. I agree maybe the state should buy it and straighten it up. There's lots of water that very few can get to and it's a real shame.
Re: Pits east of Elberfeld
I don't know how far east you are talking, but they are going to move a mine in there fairly soon.
Re: Pits east of Elberfeld
There are several pits on and just off Stanley Rd. There's one on the left I pulled several bass out of a couple weeks ago. Just past the cemetery and church there's a gravel rd. on the right and there's several back there too. Along Stanley there's lots of holes to fish but the quality isn't very good. There's one back there that's got some hogs in it but I'll be damned if I can catch them. I'd like to see some one do it. I seen them swim right by my boat. Sad hu.
