In really hot weather like the past 2 weeks, fishing pressure is low and will be until it starts to cool down, say mid August. They stocked bass in the lake last year because of low numbers. You had a good day for this time of the year. The bank access is easy and therefore is highly pressured during spring summer and early fall. What was the go to bait for the bass?

in the morn i used a blue flec power worm and switchd 2 a redish brown worm when it got hot it was a ten inch yum brand i just dont remember the name of the color the fish were around the wood up by the ramp area and down by the dam the grass around the bank was the hot spots
I fished there on sunday, I noticed the last several weeks, went to boltz, kincaid and aj sunday saw hardly no one do to hot weather, if you noticed there was nobody in the campground hardly either. Those lakes get slamed. I caught several small fish rock bass, bass, crappie and blue gill.
The pan fish bite was tuff.
Fished last nite from 5-9pm. Caught 3 keeper bass all on texas rig crawdad imitations. Fish were in 4-8' of water. No big fish, 12-13". Caught 2 crappie and 1 bluegill, no size. Water temps were 87. Water was clear to dingy, summer pool.

I fished A J Jolly last night after work, used pumpkin seed 3/8 jig, white spinner, black worm. Had very little action, 4 rock bass. Yet i was looking for the largemouth's. The water was about 80 degrees and a bit stained. fished mainly the lower part. Can anybody offer any advise? I hear there are some big ones to be caught there, i would'nt even mind catching some smaller ones.
Thank You,

Fish the banks where the creek channel runs close by. Lower end is better. Not much cover in the lake. Bass bite is tough in summer. Spring and Fall are best bets.

Why waste your time trying to catch those tasteless bass. Fish for catfish the best eating fish around. A.J. is loaded with these tasty meals just waiting to be caught. Fish for a fish that put food on the table , not a fish that flops around and jump out of the water a few times. You don't see bass in the stores for sale..but you will pay a pretty price for catfish.
Thanks for the advice BassKY, I Went back out again after work last night , had a couple bites on a flickin shimmy just before sunset, i'm thinking it was the rock bass biting. I stayed a little later to about 11:00, fished a jig, small buzz bait and a mann's 1 minus after the sun went down, still nothing. Im bound and determined to conquer this lake. My next step is to start fishin a little deeper? Anymore advice, Tips?
Thanks for the advice Wags, i do like to cat fish , yet i find bass fishing more of a challenge. Though i don't generally keep the fish, i practice catch and release unless im camping then i will clean and cook up the little guys. My favorite being lake trout, followed by catfish then crappie/bluegill.
OK, i went out again Saturday and had a good outing, i was'nt 3 cast in and caught a 2 pounder then followed it up with three more keeper size, all and all a good day. Though it seemed the key was fishing a little deeper.
Thanks for the Advise,
