Are race relations better or WORSE than say 30-40 years ago....

I'm just wondering. Seems like the NAACP, new Black Panther Party, Louis Farakahan, Reverand Wright, etc, etc are the new voice of black people in this country.

Personally, I think this administration has done more to damage race relations in this country than anyone in the past 30 years. SURE, you know about the skinheads, and neo-nazi parties, and "white power" groups, but it is the black RACIST that fuels the fire.

I discount most white racist as ignorant fools.......but these new wave racists are not all that ignorant.....

I think the race relations between black and whites has changed but I don't know how much for the better. These groups are not doing themselves any favors by being so bold and accusatory in their comments. I usually dismiss them but they have gained a foothold in politics and that relates to power.
I really think that reverse racism against whites has become commonplace. I Blame that on the "white guilt" that these black groups push on everyone. You get people like Jesse Jackson,Al sharpton, j. Wright and other public faces beating down the white race while boosting the black race without any boundries or discussion and it spells trouble.
There is such a double standard out there and people are getting sick of it.

I think it's all ignorance.

Race really shouldn't mean much anymore.....and less and less as time goes on.

After all, who can even objectively define what is white or what is black?

At some point, people are going to have to face the fact that as a society, we're pretty mixed and the lines to these groups blue more and more all the time.

But to the original question - I think people are just becoming more divisive in general and it's not really about race. People just want to disagree and say that they were wronged. It's not a skin color thing.

Amen, Brother! Race relations have deteriorated significantly since Obama was elected President. As far as I know, he has never condemned the hateful speeches or acts that have been committed by black hate groups. I'm expecting all hell to break loose at the polls during the next presidential election and wouldn't be surprised if there are riots in the streets if Obama is not re-elected. The Black Panthers threatened to do it last time. Now they have had enough time to gather more sympathizers, put together a plan, and they are getting braver while pushing their agenda. jmo

Just reading thru the various comments sections of internet news/political articles I'd say racism is alive and well. People can spout off whatever they want behind an anonymous name. That's probably more in-line with their true inner feelings than having to say that to someone's face.

I thought the election result might fix it, but it looks on the surface as though it has driven the wedge even further.

I want to make something perfectly clear I am nor have I ever been a racist. I like people of all walks of life and have many friends with diverse cultures and backgrounds. What I do frown on is double standards and reverse racism. I also hate the gangbanging, punk, shoot'em up inner city culture and I don't give a big hairy rats ass what color you are if you are promoting that culture either. That part I will make no bones about, because I believe it promotes hate and voilence.
What I say on this site I will say to anyone, here, there, anywhere, in a tree, by the sea, in a car, at a bar, Sam I am.

I saw a black man get elected because the dems needed to be the party that did it first. They needed a win so bad that they played the race card. The next thing they will do is toss Biden to the side and have Hillary or a Hispanic woman as vp running mate.
By electing obamy they stacked the deck. If you don't like him your a racist, if you make fun of his policies or administration your a racist, if you don't like his racist friends your a racist, if you make fun of his appearance your a racist, if you didn't or won't vote for him your a racist, if your a conservative your a racist.
I knew 100% what was going on when they did this. I never imagined things would get better between the blacks and anyone. Jmo

Pumpkinseedprowler in long form as I am opt known to "load the boat" with longear sunfish in the creeks when they're on the beds. There is a separate species that actually is a pumpkinseed but my friends and I always called the sunfish by that name.
Real name is Matt Doddridge, which I have as a username on forums that require you to actually post as your name (a feature I like, but I also like the stories that go behind the various internet handles you see).

Just browse thru the various comments sections and you'll see many references to primates, coons, that type of stuff. That's what I'm talking about. I don't care for Barry myself but at this point I feel my best contribution is to continue to go to work and set a good example to my kids so they become productive members of society as well. I don't have the answers on what exactly can be done to reduce the deficit, etc. Only opinions.
