WikiLeaks Morally Guilty???
From Fox News: "Gates: WikiLeaks Morally 'Guilty' Over Release of Afghan War Documents"
My God, what has happened to our country that someone can publish 80,000 pages of classified documents and only be called MORALLY GUILTY??
In 1970 when I put in my papers requesting permission to marry a foreign national. my access to Special Intelligence was immediately pulled (but I did retain my Top Secret Clearence). The Military Intelligence work I had done for the previous 13 years was considered so secret and the release of which so potentially damaging to the United States interests, that when I was debriefed I had to sign a sworn statement that I would not leave the continential United States without prior approval of the State Department because they were afraid that I could be abucted by some foreign agents.
I know that this was at the height of the Cold War, but I had no idea that our country and our military had become so weak that the release of National Defense information and secrets was only morally wrong. In the past, anyone leaking secret defense information would have gone to jail along with the people that published it.
I honestly can't blame this just on Obama and his adminsitration, we have been going down the slippery slope into hell for a long time. I just didn't realize we had gone so far that what used to be TREASON is now just morally wrong.

Re: WikiLeaks Morally Guilty???
Did you see on Fox News where wikileaks though the New York Times, showed the White House what they had and were about to publish via the New York times? Got the green light go ahead.
What about Bill Clinton's treason, Bush Jr's treason and Obamer's treason?
Re: WikiLeaks Morally Guilty???
Ya know, sometimes things are leaked, because they send a very impied signal to bad guys. Sometimes, things you want the bad guys to believe and react to, they will only trust if they think they acquired the information from some source declared to be "Damaging".
Freedom of information is a double edged sword. But, it was soldiers doing their job that has preserved that for us, not politicians or lawyers.
For my 2-c-s, I am more interested in how the info got out of DOD hands, then what to do with those that published it.
After all, no leak, no damage. Punish the source, not the distributor.
Re: WikiLeaks Morally Guilty???
The punkass private who leaked this info.......should get his trial and if found guilty........EXECUTED for treason.
But you know what......we're a country of ********, who REFUSE to do what is necessary.
Re: WikiLeaks Morally Guilty???
The guy who leaked the information IS in jail, and it's been on the news that the authorities are looking into accomplices. I think there will be more arrests. But going after Wikileaks is going to be tough. They're based in Sweden, and their website is hosted in Portugal. They actually may not have broken any of the laws of the countries in which they operate, I don't know. But like Gates said, they're still morally guilty. But I agree with Bob, once the information was leaked ANYWHERE, the horse was out of the barn. No leak, no problem, and that's what we need to concentrate on.
