Same Fish?
There is a pond between my fiancees grandmother and aunts house. So I fish there pretty often.
Well last sunday I went over there and managed to land a 4lb 5oz bass off a popper
Today, a buddy is in town and I took him over there to fish and I caught a 4lb 8oz bass off a spinnerbait.
The pond approx somewhere between half and 3/4 of an acre.
So what do you guys think. Same fish? just managed to catch it twice within a week?

Re: Same Fish?
Very possible, I fish mostly for crappie with 2 to 4lb line, and fish heavy cover most times, I have broke off, tied back up, and caught a fish with my jig in its mouth many times.

Re: Same Fish?
I have a small 3/4 acre pond and caught the same 3 pounder twice in the same day. Once in the morning and once in the evening.
This fish had a deformed tail and a black spot on his left gill.

Re: Same Fish?
i broke off a bass sat with a jig, re tied and caught the same bass(3.8lbs) the broke off jig was sticking out of his stomach

Re: Same Fish?
definitely possible...but gaining weight in this heat would be hard..even 3 oz

Re: Same Fish?
Friend of mine had a farm pond with a little dock. It had some nice bass and bluegill in it - saw several +5 lbs bass caught out of it. But there was a 4 lbs bass that had been caught so many times that it's lips were wearing out - if you cast within 20' of the dock you would catch it. We would feed him minnows - worms - crickets anything . . . it would eat it. We would feed it off the dock and you could see the fish from the dock - walking on the dock was like ringing a dinner bell!
One day it was gone - we think one of the neighbor kids snuck it there and caught and kept it one night.

I guess I should prefice that statement with the fact that you would have no problem blindly taking any bait from your tackle box and catching like 20 8"-10" bass. It would also be no problem to take a cricket and bobber and come back with 5-7lbs of blue gill.
The girl has got alot of options...
I will conclude that it was likely the same fish. I may have reconsidered if I wasnt standing in the same place where I caught the first one.

Ok, so when you say it was sticking out of his stomach... you mean like you could physically see the jig hook pertruding from its underside?
Just trying to paint the picture

Re: Same Fish?
I really doubt it's the same fish. 3oz in gain for this time of year would be really hard in only a week.

Re: Same Fish?
Maybe this could help?

I wish I could just post the pictures... it doesnt look like this thread is capable of that

Re: Same Fish?
Maybe it is. 3 oz gain in a week seems unlikely but then again nothing is impossible. I caught the same fish twice in three days from Otter lake standing in the same place. The fish was caught with-in 5' from where I caught it the first time.
Same fish for you? I believe it is very possible with the size of the pond/lake.

Re: Same Fish?
A 3 oz gain would be the result of what it had just eaten....bluegill, crawdads, etc. would all result in such a weight gain. Not saying that it is the same fish, but could be.
