Off limits area on Green River Lake
I was on Green Wednesday morning and a fellow taking out at Lone Valley stopped me to chat about crappie for a few minutes and mentioned an off limits cove somewhere around Emerald Isle that a friend of his had been cited for being in last year. I've never heard of or seen this "off limits" cove before. I tried calling fish and game today but never got to talk to anyone who knew the lake very well. Ever hear of this prohibited cove?
Re: Off limits area on Green River Lake
There is a cove that is commonly referred to as comtaminated holler or PCP cove....it was supposedly off limits a while back and they had buoys at the mouth of it marking it....but as far as i know its no longer off limits to fisherman....there is an off limits area right in front of the dam and I saw a boat get ran out of there the other night by a game warden but it is CLEARLY marked by many buoys that you're not supposed to be there....however these are both down around the ramp 1/state dock area....not very close to emerald isle
Re: Off limits area on Green River Lake
The place that people refer to as contanimated holler has been marked with a bouy for several years. I know it has been 10 years or longer since they marked that cove. It is a small cove just off the main lake up stream from site 1. At times you have to wait in line to fish the cover on the point...it gets fished every day buy somebody. I have fished that area many times and have never been ran off. To the best of my knowledge it is only a fish consumption warning. Since I catch and release I dont worry about a PCB warning.
The only off limit area that I am aware of is the marina close to the dam. When it sold around 3-4 years ago I was told that the new owner put up no fishing signs around the marina. I have heard of people getting run out of that area if they were fishing from a boat. To the best of my knowledge they do not say anything to the people who have boat slips and fish from a parked boat or bank fisherman. I dont fish that area so all this information is second hand.
