Kentucky Lake
Hello everybody. Longtime reader, first time poster.
Myself and a few of my buddies are planning a fishing/camping trip to LBL the first weekend in October. I have never fished either lake. Can anybody give me some pointers. We will probably staying at Hillman Ferry. I know there will be a lot of tournaments going on this weekend. We are just looking to catch a few nice largemouths.
Thanks for any help.

Re: Kentucky Lake
That time of year Kentucky Lake is better for me. Fish are usually starting to transition to the back of the bays following the shad. Fish the lead in banks (banks that have the channell next to them) all the way to the back of the bays. You can really have some fun with rattle traps and top water. The first of October is usually a little early for the big fish but you can have a blast in the back of the bays catching 14-15" fish. Check Daves fishing report and that should tell you what stage the fish are in. Remember to keep it between the "cans" as the water will be down.
Good Luck

Re: Kentucky Lake
I love that time of year, but it really is a "feast or famine" time for bassfishing. I would do just as MKM said. That time of year, I will always have a smaller crankbait handy.

Re: Kentucky Lake
Don't overlook Barkley, find the schooling fish on either bodies (they'll be bustin shad hard) throw a 3/16 scrounger medium bill with a pearl white fluke right by em and hold on. Fish it fast or slow or steady till you find out which way is best.
