Fighting Muskie jumped in the boat
I had this 40 inch muskie on yesterday afternoon and had fought her around both sides of the bow of my boat and just as my son was getting the landing net down into the water, she jumped clear over the bow of my boat and into the floor. We couldn't believe it. Never had that happen before.
She splashed and slimed me pretty good too... :)

And, my son landed this muskie....but, it wasn't quite as acrobatic as my fish...

Re: Fighting Muskie jumped in the boat
When Muskies start jumping in the boat you'd better have your shoes on, lol...
Re: Fighting Muskie jumped in the boat
I fish Green at least twice a week and have raised and hook several fish while bass fishing but have yet to boat one. Are you using steel leaders with your crankbaits? How long? Thanks.

Funny that you should say that Chubminnow. I didn't have shoes on. Both my right hand and left foot are cut up from that fish. I was bleeding before I got the fish back into the water. That fish went completely crazy in the boat. I was just now sitting back in the easy chair watching a movie and thinking about how bad my foot was stinging..... :o

Yep, I think I was using a 9 inch black steel leader when I caught this fish. I sometimes use 9 inch and sometimes 12 inch. I used to use 50 pound spider wire, but then I had it break on me too many times and I now use 65 pound power pro line. So far, so good with the power pro line.
I did land a muskie the other day with 30 lb monofilament.
When my son and I fish with spinner baits we don't use leaders and sometimes my son makes his own leaders out of heavy fluorocarbon line.
Re: Fighting Muskie jumped in the boat
I think that bad tempered fish was tired of the hook and wanted into the boat to kick butt!
Great pics guy. You been teraing them up. You fish mainly back in the creeks? Have you had any luck trolling for them?

I agree. I'm kinda thinking that fish was after me a little bit.... :D
Yeah, we mostly stick to coves and creeks. We have caught one muskie trolling so far. We had six rods out and caught a couple of crappie, a couple of bass, one catfish, and one muskie out on the flats. We're still pretty new to GRL and trying to learn it. We went back up Robinson Creek the other day and I hit a stump and that scared me so I skinned on outta there, but I'm wanting to go back and try it again.
