I would think if you were wanting to fish a frog you would want the grass to be matted.
Just be careful where you are running, its a dangerous lake in some places, you can go from 14' to 1' in a hurry!
Have fun but frog fishing is a little tougher than you think especially when you don't know the lake very well. I went in the fall about 3 years ago and tried my luck at frog fishing and caught very few. Ended up scrapping the frog and picked up a jig and buzzbait and fished boat houses and caught 18-20lbs a day. Now that I know a little more about G-ville I would like to try my luck at frog fishing again.

thanks for all the info.I will give detailed report when i get back.thanks
was wondering were u was putting in at. When you go be sure to head up to south saulty and goose pond. Goose pond will probably be your best bet for frog fishing, jig fishing, or what ever type of fishing you want to do. But definetly go in to south saulty and fish bridge then go under bridge hit first point on the left under bridge.
If the grass is matted we've always used 1oz weights and punched through the grass with beavers or brush hogs. And the advise on goose pond is dead on. Go under the bridge on the right to the marina keep heading left. The bank on the other side of the camp ground is great. Also straight out of the ramp there is a bridge. There is a ledge on the main channel I've done really well with jigs.
Not sure where we are putting out of,another guy booked our hotel room and we were going to put out of the closet ramp.thanks for the info,im really getting pumped since we are having cooler nights, went to bass pro and got my frogs, ribbets and 1 1/2 tungston weights.

Just got back from g-ville.We put in at browns creek. We frogg fished for 3 days.talked to the locals, fishing has been tough for some time since no rain.the fish are starting to move in the grass and are staging in front of the grass in schools in the major creeks. The air temp was in the low to mid 90's and the water temp was in the mid 80's.we were able to catch 9 keepers the first day in one area of grass.tried different areas the other days and always ended up back at the same spot as the first day.we ended up catching 18 keepers off one stretch of grass.we were throwing black froggs.the locals said the best colors to throw are brown and green.but ofcourse everyone was sold out.are biggest 2 fish was 5 lbs,1 4lbs and the rest were 2 1/2 to 3 lbs......the water was either gin clear in the creeks or brown and looked like it was turning over.lots of schooling bass around the big bridge in browns, our buddies caught 3 of them the biggest was over 4lb and the average was 3 1/2lb.we caught several short fish off main lake grass but no keepers.lots of locals are not frogging but slow plastics in front of and on the edge of the grass.hope this helps anyone going down.I will definitly go back.
thanks for the info. what was the water temp? Me and a buddy is going down this thursday and staying until sunday.
Water temp was 82 to 85........the frog bite should get better and better as this week goes on.good luck this week, let us know how you do.thanks
