Barren River Lake & a bait question
o.k. so I was goofing off with the fly rod again on the lake this past weekend. Launched Sunday at Walnut Creek and there were schools of bait all over the place along the west bank/side of the lake south of the launch. Some of them were so large they looked like dark clouds on the water. How come there's no large fish busting these schools? Just wondering.... Sorry to ask a dumb question...
Re: Barren River Lake & a bait question
I was wondering this as well 2 weeks ago when i was up Skaggs creek and could almost walk across the lake steppin on Shad... i saw a few large fish bustin em... but mostly small fish. I would hope with the dam outlet temp below 70degrees these fish will move shallow before i go back next week.
Re: Barren River Lake & a bait question
Becouse at night is when the monsters come to feed on the large shad balls. When I was at Barren two weekends ago; right at dawn (6:15am)...I saw huge largemouths busting shad for about 30min., at the mouth of a small creek cove... After that...it was all little ones.
