Nolin--10/16--10/17--report
I fished nolin last weekend--got on the water at 11:30 sat. And ran 5 miles past wax towards the river. Water was murky but not bad color. Fished from 12:00 pm to 3 pm there with only one hit. Headed half way back in dog creek and caught 1--10 inch lm. Then ran back towards m/dear and the wife caught 1--16 inch lm on a plastic worm. Looks like they are starting to drop nolin now. Sunday was even worse. Fished m/dear area again. Very windy and more boat traffic than i was expecting. Only had one hit from noon to 4 pm. Fished with red eye shad, plastic craws, deep diving crankbait, plastic worms. Fish showing on depth finder where towards the mouth of the creeks in 20-40 ft of water but still would not bite. Did anybody else fish nolin last weekend with any luck. Wanting to know if i was doing something wrong or the fish just werent biting ?????????

I think the fish have just been shut down for some reason there, I've been told the lake is turning over.
Wait and see if Rich replies, he is the Nolin Guru around here. He is the only guy I know that fishes Nolin more than I do.:D
Re: Nolin--10/16--10/17--report
thanx--forgot about turn over--probably one of the reasons
Re: Nolin--10/16--10/17--report
Fished Sat morning 10/16 off the bank a few miles from the dam. Caught two dinks on a buzzbait. Went out in the afternoon in a boat, casted for a few hours without as much as a tap, but then we trolled some deep divers around and actually started catching a few bass. One went about 16 inch. At the dam there was a STRONG sulphur smell, not sure if that is the turn over but it would wake you up for sure.

I kept thinking when i seen them in 20-40 ft of water i should troll but ran out of time. I might try that this coming weekend if i get down there. Thanx for the info. There are times when i have a rough time catching fish and wonder if its something im doing wrong or was there some other reason. Later jc

Do you troll with the main motor or your trolling motor?
Re: Nolin--10/16--10/17--report
I had a couple buddies down there this weekend and they only caught one keeper it went 5 lbs. But they said they caught tons of slots and spots. I don t know what they were using but they said they caught fish all over. Hope that helps.

Nope that doesn't help, it actually hurts my pride, lol. We couldn't get anything going casting and we were getting ready to leave and the fella I was with suggested trolling. I was pretty skeptical, but we threw out a couple of deep divers (mine was 17ft depth, his around 10 or 12) off each side of the boat, he drove slow around some points and even up into the backs of a few coves. That water is dropping fast down there.

Lol...don't know about that! :D I haven't been to Nolin in two weeks since my attention was shifted to catching stripers in the jumps @ Cumberland! :D But the last time I was there, the bass fishing was SLOW. The water was starting to turn over and I only caught a few dinks on craw cranks and plastics on primary and secondary points. There was a lot of shad back in the creeks, but not much hitting them. I'm hoping the turnover is over so the fishing can turn back on. Probably try next week. I'll post if I do.
