Re: my old man and T-ville
Work smarter not harder. I can't just grab, lift and tug things like I used to because of my hernia problems. I have learned to use straps and other things to help me still get the job done but just not adding more pressure to my stomach. Maybe you can take yesterday as a learning experience and remember the difficulties that he had getting in and out of the boat, moving around the boat and think of ways to help him (especially since you seen it first hand) and implement these at your tripS to Rough. Maybe it is a block of wood to help him step straight off the dock onto the block of wood inside the boat then step off the block to the deck. Maybe it is some sort of grab handle or rope to let him pull himself up and down into his seat. Just throwing out ideas to get the point across. Just like a jigsaw puzzle it takes a bit of time to solve it but you start one piece at a time.

Great idea Woody, I was thinking about one of those step up stools but a block of wood he has in the garage would be perfect for ehat you suggest... thanks.

DC Chop - I've been reading your posts and already know you will hang in there with your ol' man till the end, so I'm not gonna tell what is already obvious. But as far as the handicaps your dad is now faced with, Elwood is correct...Anyone faced with these sorts of situations just needs to think up different ways, means and methods. For example...last week I took a quick trip to Bass Pro during my lunch hour...when I pulled in the parking lot I saw a Bass Boat on a trailer in behind some guys truck...I never saw the guys and I didn't have time to talk to them anyway. At any rate...I looked at that boat...and looked at it again. I went inside the store, did my business and left. When I walked out to the truck the rig was still parked outside...so I got in my truck and drove up closer to this guys rig for a closer look....He had a handicapped railing of sorts along one side of the boat from like where the drivers console was to near the middle of the stern where the motor was. The railing was about waste high there on the back deck.
Where there's a will there's always a way.
