Kentucky River at Boonesboro
Fished the Kentucky River from the bankside at both the boat ramp area and the beach yesterday. Nine hours for four miniatures, two crawdads and a lost catfish!
The water was pretty low but I still saw three other fishermen out, one with his son. Between those all that was accounted for was one small bluegill and a decent catfish.
Losing the catfish right on the banking upset me somewhat but the day was entertaining. The fog rolling across the rivertop first thing in the morning was a sight in itself but once it gave way to the new fall foliage with the sun breaking through it was nothing short of beautiful. Made me wish I'd taken my real camera instead of just my daughter's point-and-shoot.
Probably won't go back there until the spring since the bites were so few.

So you can fish off the bank at Fort Boonesborough State park?
Re: Kentucky River at Boonesboro
Yes. As I said there were at least four adults throwing a line throughout the day.
Here's a link to some images I took to show the area:

While I think about it ... it should be noted that the area I am talking about is down near the ORIGINAL Fort Boonesboro site and NOT the working replica fort.

Nice pics. I have been looking for some places to bank fish on the KY river. I have never been to that state park. Is there some parking close to the boat ramp/old fort site?
I am looking at this park map - http://parks.ky.gov/NR/rdonlyres/75EDDFBC-4075-4AD4-B0FD-1B39583F613E/0/FortBoonesborough.pdf

Right at the top of the boat ramp there is parking for about 6-10 cars. There is also parking for the playground a little further back if you don't mind the walk. For the beach area there is ample parking in front of the business office.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like you had a rough outing the last time, but is it normally decent? I usually like to fish for bass with different kinds of artificial lures like crankbaits and also do texas rig. The thing I like about river fishing is you never know what you are going to catch sometimes.
Re: Kentucky River at Boonesboro
Friday was the first time I'd visited the area but the guy who was fishing with his son said he was from Winchester and fished there since he was a kid with some good fishing going on there more often than not.
It just looks like Friday was a slow day, I guess.
