Bank Fishing
I've been reading through these boards for a month or so now, you guys are honestly great and very informative. The only problem I've been having is lack of boat... I'm rather young, 22 with a baby on the way and a wedding to plan so working the purchase of a boat into my budget is just out of the question. My father just had back surgery, the ride on a boat would be out of the question if I was fishing with him anyway. We regularly fish Cedar, seems a lot of bank spots but most shallow. We fish Stanford Reservoir and the other Watershed in Stanford but without any real luck. I was wondering, for a young man that would like to take his father fishing, whose just had back surgery, and doesn't really have much experience with fall fishing, where could I take him?
To get information, you must share information. My best luck on Cedar from the bank is the main boat ramp, red eye shad, I haven't been there and not caught a fish. Then on the other side of the lake, left off the bridge where a dirty point extends above the water into the lake, against that rock wall parallel to the parking lot... again, red eye shad and sometimes a tube if they aren't chasing anything. I'd be following the shad but honestly I don't think they're are much shad in that lake.
Any information would help, thanks guys!

Re: Bank Fishing
I fish Ky Lake but I have bank-fished it for 6 yrs and the best advice I have is to stick with the boat ramps, (especially older ones less used or ones with lighting nearby) thse work great throughout the year. And any points you can get to (usually more accessible in winter but less water). If a ramp had a dock, rip-rap, wood, grass, etc. neaby then so the better but always begin with a ramp. Ramps are solid structures that dont move and generally run far into the lake. Take it from there and good luck

Re: Bank Fishing
I used to have good luck fishing minnows below the dam at Cave run. There is also alot of bank areas there to fish off the road at the main lake. You may have to walk thru the woods in a couple spots but it is worth it.
