Cumberland/ Conley Bottom
I have finally gotten my priorities right again and I am back to fishing. I want to fish cumberland for the first time with some live bait for smallmouth, Kentucky's, rockfish basically anything and I am happy. If my traps fail to produce by tomorrow evening where could I buy some shriners on my way from London to Conley Bottom? I can cast a net for shad but I like to at least have a little bait as a back up. I hope to have a good report Saturday evening. Appreciate the help.
Re: Cumberland/ Conley Bottom
Should be a great weekend for some LC fishing.....here's hoping you get into the Big Un! :)
Thinking I'll pull some boards form the creek mouths up into the creeks (mid way) (Indian or Beaver). Just don't know, been about 2 months since I was on the lake?
Re: Cumberland/ Conley Bottom
There are acouple of bait stores in Somerset and Burnside, that might have bait, not real sure. Call Backwaters in Somerset to see if they can help you, good luck.
Re: Cumberland/ Conley Bottom
If you pass through Bronston on your way to Conley Bottom there is a Marathon Station that also serves as a Pro Bass shop (not to be confused with Bass Pro shops). They sometimes have some good live bait but it varies a lot.
If nothing else they have some great tackle to look at and drool over.
Good luck with the fishing this weekend.
Re: Cumberland/ Conley Bottom
Yes, theres the Pro Bass Shop on hwy 90 just outside of somerset. They open at 5 a.m.. Ask for Greg, the owner. Heck of a nice guy! Backwaters on the 914 bypass sells shiners also but they are very small, usually only 2-3 or sometimes 4 inches. Greg at Pro Bass has a larger variety of sized shiners, minnows, crickets, worms whatever ya want.
Re: Cumberland/ Conley Bottom
I appreciate the help. I trapped a few today but will get a few more. I will be post tomorrow how it goes. I hope my thumbs are tore up.
Re: Cumberland/ Conley Bottom
I think slow was the best way to describe it today. 2nd cast caught a keeper largemouth a few minutes later caught another one and that was it for decent fish.

They always say, never catch one on the First Cast (second cast)! :D:D
