Surfing on the Ohio at McAlpine
We knew the wind would be high today, but Geeze Louise, we were hitting into 2 ft. breakers on our way back to New Albany. This was in Knute's little 15 ft. aluminum Tracker.
Nothing for us on the sauger. We went on towards the upper and a few other brave souls were battling the wind. Saw a few sauger reeled in but none by us.
Work is progressing nicely on the Clarksville ramp. Shouldn't be much longer until it is opened.

We went to Markland today .Fished it hard , one sauger maybe, just maybe 12 in. , one drum maybe 5 # .The lock wall blocked the wind purty well . The trip back to the ramp was rough.Tho the fish didn't cooperate, it was a nice day out for this time of year..;)

I hear you on the breakers Tyme, back when I was out every week in my little 14ft v I learned to keep looking forward because I didn't want to see the swell coming up from behind the boat....scary...Missed you guy's Fri. caught a few but all small. Chuck
Re: Surfing on the Ohio at McAlpine
Fished Markland on Sunday also for a few hours in the morning. Luckily the wind had not kicked up yet. Nothing at the dam. Moved to lock #1 on the Kentucky River and nothing either. So I finally fished the mouth of the KY River. Caught 1 Sauger about 10" and a drum. Had a few other short bites.
Re: Surfing on the Ohio at McAlpine
I wondered what the river would look like in today's wind. I've been on the river in my 18' Pro Craft and wasn't able to get on plane due to the rollers. NOT fun seeing waves brake across the bow.

Have you figured out a way to attach a chain to your anchor?
I waved at you when we passed you while you were anchored. Knute (my fishing buddy) said he talked with you at the ramp before I got there.
It has been my extreme pleasure to have met several of the members of fishin.com and actually fish with them. Thanks to the board for this great site.

My number one posting rule: If you wouldn't say it to your wife, daughter,or mother, then don't post it here on fishin.com
