A team ranked #2 in the country and the preseason pick to win the Big Ten loses to a team unranked and picked 9th in the Big East? Say it isn't so Clyde.
Oh yeah, it is so UConn 70-Michigan St. 67. :D

" Cricketts chirping!"
When UKL beats UConn tonight, I expect Clyde to come and live through his second favorite team.
He may not be jumping in just yet. It is half and it's not looking good. The Big Beast is going to be better than most think. There is still another half to play so anything can happen.
Man you ain't kidding UK got smoked! I'm not understanding how an unranked team can beat two ranked teams in a row? I mean...it's UCONN, it's Calhoun, it's Big East and they have one heck of a team.
Are rankings this early weighing very heavily on recruiting class?

Don, most preseason rankings are based on what you did last year and what newcomer and returning players you have.
I will say this, Kemba Walker has to be the early leader for national player of the year.
Rankings in November don't mean jack squat.
Kentucky should not have been #9. We should have been in the teens, which is where we will be after deciding to play AAU ball against a UConn team that came in with a legitimate POY candidate, a win over Izzo, and seeking a little revenge after getting beat by UK last year.
We aren't deep, got in early foul trouble, and played selfishly. Plus, even though Jones is a man-child, we are a Donut team...hole in the middle. Vargellson (That's Vargas and Harrellson) played admirably, but are not game changers. Kanter changes the landscape dramatically. Can you imagine a Kanter/Jones combo on the floor?
Uh, yeah...
The Big East is a basketball conference, just like the SEC is a football conference. Tough league for hoops, from top to bottom. It's no surprise that what happened last night happened. The good news is that we lost 5 studs last year, but were able to take a bunch of freshmen on the road and beat Portland-Oklahoma-Washington to end up in the Final of the Maui Tourney. Experience builder. I'll take it.
Pre-season rankings are as useless as **** on a Boar Hog. They are for hype and the novice fans.
UK will be fine, they needed that loss, humble pie makes you hungry. Jones is a absolute blue chipper, he'll start in the NBA his first year which will probably be next year.
Hey i never said anything about UCONN...It's U of L that thinks their god's gift to the Basketball and Football world.
btw, hard drive took a shiett and i been getting my stuff reloaded....
I would think the guys doing the preseason rankings would have to consider Enes Kanter on UK's team. He was not ruled permanently ineligible until after the first ranking came out. UK will win some games but they absolutely have nobody that can play down low with their backs to the basket and that will hurt them. Plus give them a wide open 15' Free Throw and they will make about 60% on a good night, which will hurt them as well. Jones, Miller and Knight will have to play absolutely lights out every night for them to even get close to the Elite 8 much less the Final 4. Jones would need 20 and 10 boards and Knight will need 20 and 8 assist and Miller needs some line like 15, 8 boards and 5 assists EVERY night for them to have a shot.
Poor free throw shooting has been a trademakr of Cal's teams in the past. That is why the were not stripped of the National Title a couple of years ago. If they could have made free throws they beat Kansas easily.
