Re: installing a humminbird si transducer
It's not as easy as a normal one. It has to be on the part that sticks out the most and also down the most. ANY obstructed view will result in a crappy view on the screen. And as much as you like jig fishing you'll love the si unit. Get on you tube and search how to mount a hummingbird si transducer. Those videos will help.

Re: installing a humminbird si transducer
I'll try to help. I have the same unit and installed it on my boat. Never tried to install the transducer on anyone elses boat but I do a lot of reading on the internet and have seen pictures of other installations and have seen a few other boats that had these transducers installed on them.
Did you consider using the transducer mounting plate?

Send me a PM and I'll give you a phone number so we can talk if you wish.
Re: installing a humminbird si transducer
A guy in the the club just bought 798. He is thinking of put the si transducer on the trolling motor. Has anyone done this or will work?
Re: installing a humminbird si transducer
Larry, I've heard it's to much vibration on the tm. That causes the picture quality to ****.

really defeats the purpose. it doesnt work so well when turning. only straight line. it affects it with the big motor turning. a trolling motor turning would be terrible.
Re: installing a humminbird si transducer
Thanks Guys, I didn't think it would work very well.
Re: installing a humminbird si transducer
Here are a few other web site forum that have a lot of information about the humminbird SI units.

And www.iboats.com may be helpful too.
Take your time and do some research on how other's installed their units.
The 4 web sites listed above may have more help than you will find in here. As everyone using those is interested in the Humminbird Units or already have one of them.
Surely there will be some triton boat owners on those web sites that may be of help.
