Ship Shape TV / Enthenol & Water Treatment
Did anyone catch the experiment on Ship Shape TV this morning where they showed how ineffective marine Staybil fuel stabelizer is at removing the water affects of enthenol in gas. The same experiment showed how a product called Formula X2 did remove the water and preserved the rubber fuel line where the Staybil disolved the fuel line after just thirty days. After seeing this, I think I'm switching my gas treatment.

I did, Great show.
I guess we all have wasting our money on stabill.
I have for the last year went away from stabill and was using another product.
Star Tron, You can buy it at Walmart.
cheaper than any other store.
Better product I was going to write to the company and ask them to do the comparison.

ill just keep on using nothing like i have been. all the additives to me are just ways to spend money. just like all the additives for cars. ive never used any of that crap

10-4 Embrey, Never have most likely never will...
Re: Ship Shape TV / Enthenol & Water Treatment
Gotta love info-mercials. Wonder how much money the makers of Formula X2 gave that channel/show in order to push their product?
I've used either the red or marine grade stabil in my boat for four years now and have never had a problem with fuel lines, seals, etc. Many guys on here never use additives and haven't had problems either.
My dad always told me to believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see...when it comes to product placement and info-mercials, I'll go with what my boat mechanic puts in his boat - marine grade stabil.
Re: Ship Shape TV / Enthenol & Water Treatment
I just drain the gas as close to empty as I can before winter. I leave it low if I plan on fishing one day during the winter and fill it full in the spring. Never had a problem.
Re: Ship Shape TV / Enthenol & Water Treatment
It USED to be that you didn't have to use additives, back when we had just regular unleaded gasoline. However, now that Ethanol is prevelant if you do not use addatives you will have problems at some point. If you know your using gas with ethanol I would hope your smart enough to use something combat the ill effects.

I've always tried to keep the tank as full as possible, seems like with it as low as possible you get more of a possibility of condensation forming on the inside of the tank (water). with a full tank there is very little if any chance that any condensation can occur.....just wondering, i've never heard of anyone keeping their tank empty as opposed to full...
Re: Ship Shape TV / Enthenol & Water Treatment
Yeah, I was a bit ticked when I saw that. No more blue stuff for me. I'll keep the tank full and my fuel water separator fresh. Of course that just takes care of the water issue. The ethanol still eats your hoses.
