New pole for my Shimano Curado 200E7
I need some help and thoughts please.
I'm going to buy a new 200e7 and I need a rod to go with I like one piece 7 or 7'6" medium action rods but that could change as I know one rod makers med heavy is another med action. I really don't want a brittle rod like a IM8 but I would like it to be graphite If memory serves me right it seems glass rods are spongy feeling. I don't use real heavy lures they are usually 1/2 or less for the most part ( spinners and plastics) but I do have some crank baits that are closer to 1 ounce. I usually use fire line but I think for this set up I'm going with some power pro I like how it handles on my catfish rigs but that can change as well.
My budget for this rod will be about $160.oo I was thinking about a carrot Styx until I read all the bad reports so maybe I will stay away from them.
I like the simplicity of the e7 reel and the fact that it has so many bearings and no magnetic anti back lash on it but as sample as it is it is way over priced that is for sure.. I did check out the ctica but i like the e7 better.
Thanks for your in put and have a good day..
Darrell

Duckett rods make a 7'3" model that would suit your needs perfect. It's also right in your price range. I have thrown 3/4 oz football head jigs and 1/8 oz texas rigged finesse worms with this rod. It handled both great. I have three of these rods because of there versitility. I have not thrown a crankbait on them but the action should be soft enough to allow you to do so.
