Went to Taylorsville to take a look
Dead shad floating everywhere at Settlers Trace. :D Free bait!!!! Stockin up early.
Tailwaters was way the beep up.
Has a paved parking lot and boat ramp now, right at the bottom of the hill coming down the road before you go left to get to the spillway . Yes a paved ramp down in the tailwaters park area with a paved trailer parking area. Should be lots of fun to be had for fellow jon boaters and canoes.
Re: Went to Taylorsville to take a look
In years past I use to spend alot my time on the salt river below the dam to the Ohio river , alot of people over look it and the the fishing can be excellent . Crappie , whites , catfish , kentucky and black bass are there to be had if you know where to look. If anybody ever needs a guide on the salt look me up...........;)
Re: Went to Taylorsville to take a look
its funny you mentioned that swift... i may be buying a kayak with all this overtime i am working and Floyds Fork and Salt River are two places i wanna try to fish for Bass. Where do you recommend i go on those two streams?
Re: Went to Taylorsville to take a look
I have spent alot time on both the salt and Floyds fork , if you want smallmouth got to the fork if you want spots and largemouth hit the salt. I have caught 4 pound largemouth and smallmouth over 3 pounds and those are a hoot on spinning gear. What I have had the most fun with is catfishing the salt with limb lines and cane poles. Drop me a line if you ever want to go , I might get you headed in the right direction.......Jarrod
Re: Went to Taylorsville to take a look
Is there still are area of the Salt River that your cannot fish or boat in? I am guessing some area of Ft. Knox that won't allow you to boat in that area. Just curious---haven't fished that area in years.
Re: Went to Taylorsville to take a look
Had some good times on Floyds Fork. There is a public put in and take out thanks to Jerry. Just go to the Metro's website and search blue water trails to locate them. You can also take out at a few of the highway bridge's as well, although some of them are more challenging.

Yes, down stream a little ways from the First Street Park in Shepherdsville. I haven't been down that far in a while, but it used to be very well marked with signs.
Re: Went to Taylorsville to take a look
I am determined to get on the Salt this year. I've got an 11 ft Jon no gas motor, but will put a troller on it I guess. I'm trying to discover a few good spots with decent access for to put in. With these kids , I just don't get that much time.

Bout the same rig I'll be using, 12ft aluminum flat, with a battery and hand propelled 40lb electric motor. Can't wait to anchor out and drop a couple lines. Their some monsters in that water. :D

I always wondered where the "other side" of the off limits water was posted at.
Coming up the Salt River from the Ohio River there are signs posted just up stream from the Salt River Ramp there in West Point. That makes for quite a few miles of unusable water. And....from what others have told me, this section of water is definitely patrolled.
