Not all this garbage you hear today.
I will take:
BB King
Buddy Guy
Eric Clapton
Lynard Skynard
Pink Floyd
The Who
The Eagles
Stevie Ray Vaughn
AC/DC
Boston
Allman Brothers
Cream
Jethro Tull
Creedence Clearwater Revival
and not listen to anything else the rest of my life over the crap on today.
Re: King, Clapton and Collins....THIS IS MUSIC
I agree to a lot of your post, but think you are leaving out some good names... First of all Lynyrd Skynyrd is a much better band than Lynard Skynard(is that even a real band?) ... sorry had to bust your balls...
But dont forget other forms of music with insane amounts of talent.
Steve Vai
Joe Satriani
Metallica
Brad Paisley
John Mayer (not his teeny bopper crap, his good stuff)
Jimi Hendrix
Led Zeppelin
Eric Johnson
And at risk of the guitar Gods striking me down... Eric Clapton = Over-rated
Re: King, Clapton and Collins....THIS IS MUSIC
I'll add Albert King to the list. If you get the opportunity, give a listen to Albert King + Stevie Ray Vaughn; "In Session". It's got some decent guitar work on it.
Or....How about Roy Clark from Hee Haw? That fella could do some pickin'.
By the way Elwood....that's a pretty good little clip you posted.

Awesome link, thanks for posting it!
Re: King, Clapton and Collins....THIS IS MUSIC
My point is proved again at the Super Bowl. Christina messes up the words to the National Anthem and then Fergie and Slash completely destroy Sweet Child O Mine. I bet Axl Rose threw up his lunch seeing Fergie's horrible impression of him and wants to beat the crap out of Slash for still riding the coat tails of Guns n Roses past. By the way, GNR would have been on my list if they had stayed together and kept on making music like Appetite for Destruction, Use your Illusion and such from around 1987 to around 1992 before the Drugs, Money and Girls took a hold of them.
Re: King, Clapton and Collins....THIS IS MUSIC
Man that half time show was rough. The audio problems killed the rhythm.
Re: King, Clapton and Collins....THIS IS MUSIC
I will agree that the half time show blew my nuts, but Fergie would sound better than Axl Rose nowadays even if she was singing drunk with sand in her mouth. As for Slash riding the GNR coat tails... he was about 98% of the talent in that band to begin with, so i say he can do whatever he wants with the music...
It was a shame to see the Black Eye Peas do so bad, because they are talented musicians...
Re: King, Clapton and Collins....THIS IS MUSIC
Maybe I should have clarified a little better. GNR from 1987 to around 1992 is the REAL GNR to me, Appetite for Destruction and Use your Illusion albums. Don't have a clue as to how Axl sounds today but back then, Fergie has no shot at singing Sweet Child O Mine as good as Axl did.

Re: King, Clapton and Collins....THIS IS MUSIC
I'll cut Fergie a little slack, because the only reason she was the one singing Sweet Child O Mine in the first place was Axl's mic died. There were multiple technical problems during that show, making it even worse than it was scheduled to be.
Christina Aguillara is a different story. IMHO the only reason she messed up the words in the first place is she was concentrating more on making it "Christina Aguillara sings Our National Anthem," and jazzing it up into something that it's not, than on going out and singing it in a way that shows some respect. IT'S NOT A JAZZ PIECE!!! It annoys me no end when I see someone go in front of a crowd and try and improvise on "The Star-Spangled Banner." When you go out there and sing it, it's not about YOU, it's about what it stands for. Even if she'd gotten the words right, it still would have been a pretty bad rendition, IMO.

I don't know, Hendrick did a pretty cool version of it....
Re: King, Clapton and Collins....THIS IS MUSIC
I'm with RT. She tried so hard to put her spin on that song and pulled a major Fail. Too many runs, pitch issues and flat out bad singing. Man how can a performer forget the words??? Seriously?? Hope her contract had a performance clause in it so she got paid accordingly.
Oh well, maybe the expected singer got hurt and that's the best they could do off the bench.:)
