Re: rod help
I've got 2 set-up's that i use, for the 8lb anddrop shot - shakey-head i use a 7' med. B.p.s. Graphite series.
I throw small cranks, light spinners and light top waters on a 6'6" b.p.s. Graphite series med. Hvy. This is a cheap rod, reg. $34.99, on sale i got mine for $24.00 each. They're light, sensitive, and have good backbone.
I can throw c.b.'s on the 7', but i'm more accurate with the 6'6" hope this helps... Tr

I 2nd Offdtop's recommendation...but for the crankin' rod, may want a 6'6"...least if you're seeking accuracy, longer rod for distance I believe. If you're only using these two combos, I'd use combo 1 for jigs as well, and #2 for just cranks, and maybe an alternate for soft plastics. JMO though. But I'm also not a big fan of flouro on a spinning reel, had too many bird's nests. Going to try copolymer this season and see if it works any better for my plastics/jigs, but I use mono on cranks. Hope we've helped!

Re: rod help
Haven't played with the Veritas, although you seldom read anything bad about them. My dropshot rig is a 7' Lamiglas Excel 703S. Great rod for that. Lots of tip action with good backbone. Can't help you with a CB spinning rod.
