I have a chance to fish KY next weekend March 5th.
I can go march 4, 5, 6 I think.........Now here is the magic question.
Go or STAY HOME. I'm thinking stay home, save my money and go in 2 weeks, which is my official first trip.
I'm torn, because I REALLY want to go fishin.
I'm assuming ky and barkley will both be mud holes, and lots of debris.
What do you folks think?
Thanks,
Geo

the first bfl is that saturday. I usually try to stay away from them. but I'm like you, chomping at the bits to go
Re: I have a chance to fish KY next weekend March 5th.
I would not let the BFL bother me one bit. Those lakes are too big to be bothered by a couple hundred boats.
I would wait a little later in the week before I made the decision. Water temp this morning was 47d and level 357. I believe there is another round of rain coming tonight/tomm.

Easy big fella, save for the trip in a couple of weeks. First full moon of the year when some big girls will be moving up to spawn will be around the 18th of March. Smallies will be hitting it hard then plus the early greenfish. Personally, I think the biggest fish spawn first and get it out of the way. March is money time for big fish and full moon in March is MONEY TIME. Call me and I will tell you the areas to target. You already fish the certain bays in question, but I will tell you the different areas to fish besides your normal ones.
That SPOT where I lost that GIANT in front of our boats in 2009 when Kansas Dave was in your boat and I was by myself. You remember the fish, the bait and the place. THAT AREA IS NUMERO UNO, THAT BAIT IS NUMERO UNO FOR A REALLY GIANT TROPHY FISH!!!!
Re: I have a chance to fish KY next weekend March 5th.
I read on BBC that it took 26 lbs to win a tourney out of the southern end of the lake on Sat. Several bags over 20 also.

Yes sir.....I know exactly where you're talking about. I'm thinking of saving my cash and doing it the Full moon March, and then the 2 weekends in April, and then a couple more...........
Not going to do as many trips as last year, just LONGER trips. Cannot WAIT.
I will call you next week.
later,
Geo

Re: I have a chance to fish KY next weekend March 5th.
What lake KY or Barkley?? I have done good on both, but now favor KY. We have caught them good with tubes on the channel banks at the mouth and 1/2 way back into the bays and deeper points in the bays. Just keep moving...

For numbers Barkley but for the big ones no doubt you can't beet Ky. Lake for over all size of fish!!!!!!!!!!!!JMO:cool:
