Westboro "Baptists" coming soon to a church near you!
As if their insanity about the deaths of soldiers in the Middle East being God's punishment for America tolerating homosexuality wasn't enough, apparently the so-called "Reverend" Fred Phelps and his congregation hate Catholics, too, and are protesting at churches in Kentucky.

I have to wonder what it is in the Phelps' background that makes it so important to identify all these things they think God hates? I've never once heard anything coming from them about "God loves..." It's always "God hates this" or "God hates that." Those people must lead a miserable life, walking around doing so much hating all the time.
Re: Westboro "Baptists" coming soon to a church near you!
I agree...can you imagine? I'm not a perfect man and I don't pretend to be....that being said, this group of misfits would be limping if they were around a funeral of a loved one spewing their hate. Picket my Church or protest the war....whatever but leave folks alone who are hurting.
Sometimes that freedom of speech right sure stings when you see crap like this group.
Re: Westboro "Baptists" coming soon to a church near you!
How funny would it be if a bunch of the folks at Connections decided to picket in drag with signs urging Fred Phelps to come out of the closet and join them for a night of slow dancing and cocktails.
Re: Westboro "Baptists" coming soon to a church near you!
It's a matter of time before somebody is going to hurt Fred Phelps or one of his minions from the Westboro Baptist Church. I believe anyone's funeral service deserves respect for the deceased family and friends!
When these people protest during fallen soldiers funerals it is contemptible and beyond anything decent people should allow. Years ago these people would've been tarred & feathered - or worse!

If these scumbags ever showed up at one of my family members funerals, they would protest no more.........
Re: Westboro "Baptists" coming soon to a church near you!
Does this give me the right to go to the Supreme Court while a trial is going on and start shouting with a bull horn that the roadrunner church hates judges? Is this my right can I be disrespectful in this public place?
Re: Westboro "Baptists" coming soon to a church near you!
I agree with Don and Glenn. If they were to protest at one of mine...I WILL GO TO JAIL after I'm done, not trying to sound like a tough guy just stating facts....
Re: Westboro "Baptists" coming soon to a church near you!
Watch all of the videos of youtube of the Patriot Guard riders. They block the view of the protesters as the funeral procession goes by, holding flags in fron ot them and revving the Harley motors when the idiots try to sing and chant.

I'm thinking it would be PRIME TIME to exercise our CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS.....
Re: Westboro "Baptists" coming soon to a church near you!
Boone, now THAT cracked me up!
I'm sure these creeps just try to stir things up as a perceived recruitment tactic, kind of like the Branch Davidians or Jim Jones. What concerns me more (though I can't imagine anything more repulsive than protesting at a funeral) in the big picture is how much negativity there is in general. We're becoming the hater nation. We hate LeBron; the filthy-rich, rob-from-the-poor conservatives; the self-serving, America-bankrupting liberals; God-hating pro-choicers; woman-hating pro-lifers; Cats; Cards; Vols; Muslims; Jews; Christians; blacks; whites; browns; reds; oranges; purples; lime greens; when will we just leave each other alone and not insist everyone should be identical?

All of us have likes and dislikes, but the majority of us donot carry it to the extreme of disrespecting someone who gave their life for our freedom at their funeral.
