does anybody have one. they advertise 50 mpg. i was wondering if this is true. I drive roundtrip 110 miles a day. need something better, but at 70-80 mph i don't know if they would do any better. I get 25 mpg out of a taurus
If anybody has one what do they really get highway speeds I would also like to know of any other good mpg car

It depends on how you drive it. At highway speeds that high I doubt you would see much better than say 30mpg. If you want real good highway economy... get a diesel Jetta.

Prime example is m current Jeep. When i first bought it i would drive the speed limit everywhere and I-65 was then a 55mph zone. I got 20mpg. As soon as they switched it to 65mph and i stopped driving like a grandpa, i was doing 70mph to work all the time. Mileage dropped to 16mpg.
I rode in a Hybrid highlander that was fast as crap. The funny thing is I never felt the tranny shift when we were on our way to WOT:p Is that right? How much different are those Hybrids? Anyone been in one and noticed that?

My neighbor has one and says that he averaged 47 mpg over a 1,000 miles of driving. He has had it about a month now. I hope it does well because we purchased one today. My wife wanted something to get good gas milage and we made the purchase after talking with the neighbor. In a couple months I will know more, but have not talked to but one person who did not like them. The one guy is addicted to full size trucks. If gas goes to $5 or $6 a gallon I wonder how long it will take to change his mind.
Since all I own are 4-wheel drive V8 Chevy's I can't chime in very much on the gas mileage concerns.
Over the years I have always suggested buying American if at all possible....but here in the recent past my perception of Union made products is...well, I'm "almost" to the point to where I'm thinking of no longer being bull headed about automobiles with my "buy American" attitude....if you can get a decent product for a decent price, regardless of whether or not it's American, Japanese or German you may as well buy it.

It may have had a CVT transmission. They never "shift". My wife's Jeep Patriot has one.
